  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Nearly reaches century mark in loss

Singletary carried the ball 16 times for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. He also caught his only target for zero yards. The veteran running back scored his first TD as a Giant late in the first quarter on a seven-yard run. Singletary has dominated the backfield touches for New York through the first two weeks of the year -- Tyrone Tracy was the only other RB to see the ball, taking one carry for two yards -- and while the team's offense as a whole hasn't been particularly effective so far, that volume does give him a solid fantasy floor. Singletary will look to put together another strong effort in Week 3 against the Browns.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Sleeper RBs

Hopefully, the Giants will be more competitive in Week 2 at Washington than they were in Week 1 when Minnesota beat New York 28-6. Singletary had 10 carries for 37 yards and four catches for 15 yards on five targets in the loss, but he could get 20 total touches this week if the Giants hang around or play with the lead. Last week, the Commanders allowed Rachaad White to go over 100 total yards and score 16.6 PPR points, and Bucky Irving had nine carries for 62 yards and scored 9.6 PPR points.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Sleeper RBs

Singletary should dominate touches for the Giants, especially in Week 1 against the Vikings, and he's worth using as a flex. Brian Daboll is excited about Singletary being the replacement for Saquon Barkley this year. "He's just a good running back," Daboll said. "You can use him on all three downs. ... So, I'd say he's an all-purpose back for us. I've known him quite some time in this league, and he's consistent." The Vikings allowed four running backs in their final four games last season to score at least 14 PPR points, and hopefully, Singletary can at least match that level of production in Week 1.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Finds paydirt in preseason loss

Singletary carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards and a touchdown and failed to catch his only target in Saturday's 28-10 preseason loss to the Texans. The Giants' first-team offense played the entire first half, but Singletary wasn't able to gain much yardage against a stout Texans front seven. The veteran back did manage to punch in a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter, however. He's set to begin the season as the Giants' top option in the backfield, and with rookie Tyrone Tracy (ankle) potentially on the shelf for Week 1, Singletary could wind up seeing more work as a receiver than anticipated early in the year. His experience in Brian Daboll's scheme -- Daboll was Singletary's offensive coordinator for three seasons in Buffalo -- should allow him to hit the ground running with his new team after he amassed 1,091 scrimmage yards over 17 regular-season games for Houston in 2023.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Likely to play Saturday

The Giants' healthy starters, a group that includes Singletary, are expected to play about a half in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. It is possible Singletary plays less than a lot of the other starters given the demanding nature of his position, but he'll likely be out there in some capacity early in the game, if nothing else. He was held out of the preseason opener last Thursday against Detroit, giving Eric Gray, Tyrone Tracy (ankle) and Dante Miller (hamstring) an opportunity to shine on a strong night for the Giants' running game. Tracy and Miller appear in danger of missing the upcoming exhibition with Houston, potentially setting up Gray for significant work off the bench.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Observes backups in preseason win

Singletary didn't play in the Giants' first preseason game Thursday versus Detroit, and New York's running game produced 155 ground yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. That Singletary didn't play in the team's initial preseason matchup further emphasizes what was already a given, which is that he'll take over the lead-back role for the Giants with Saquon Barkley now in Philadelphia. The extent to which Singletary serves as a workhorse, though, could depend on how effectively the team's other ball carriers perform. If Thursday was any indication, second-year back Eric Gray could earn a healthy workload, as he gained 52 yards and scored twice on just four carries while adding 46 receiving yards on four catches versus Detroit. Tyrone Tracy, who has been the early leader for the No. 2 role in training camp, also did well with 26 yards on five rushes, and Dante Miller -- who has opened eyes in camp -- added 63 ground yards on 12 carries along with seven receiving yards on two catches. Singletary's role as the No. 1 back is secure, but it isn't yet known how work will be distributed among all of the running backs with Barkley out of the picture.

  • Giants' Devin Singletary: Joining New York's backfield

Singletary is slated to sign a three-year deal with the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per Schefter, Singletary's looming three-year pact with New York is a $16.5 million agreement that could be worth up to $19.5 million. The 26-year-old, who had 216 carries for 898 yards and four TDs to go along with 30 catches for 193 yards in 17 regular-season games with the Texans in 2023, steps into a situation where he'll be called upon to help fill in for the departure of Saquon Barkley (Eagles). It's a role that should yield enough touches for Singletary -- who profiles as the team's lead back at this stage -- to merit fantasy lineup consideration in 2024.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Effective as pass catcher

Singletary rushed the ball nine times for 22 yards in Saturday's 34-10 loss to the Ravens. He added five receptions on six targets for 48 yards. Game script and a tough matchup combined to mute Singletary's production on the ground. However, he finished third on the team in targets and was effective as a pass catcher, with two of his five receptions going for double-digit gains. With the performance, Singletary recorded at least three receptions in five of his final six games. He's set to hit free agency this offseason and helped his market by tallying 1,091 yards from scrimmage with four total touchdowns across 17 games with the Texans.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Tallies garbage-time score

Singletary rushed the ball 13 times for 66 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 45-14 win over the Browns. He added three receptions on three targets for four yards. The Texans relied on C.J. Stroud for their scoring in the first half, as the rookie quarterback had three touchdowns. That, combined with a tough matchup against the Browns' run defense limited Singletary's production for much of the game, even though he out-touched Dameon Pierce 16-3. The former managed to salvage his performance with a 19-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to tack on Houston's final score of the day. Singletary will continue to lead the team's backfield in the divisional round, though the offense is likely to run through Stroud once again.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Scores vital touchdown

Singletary rushed the ball 24 times for 63 yards in Saturday's 23-19 win over the Colts. He added one reception on one target for two yards. Singletary was the only Texans running back to record a carry in the game. He was highly inefficient with the opportunity, as he averaged only 2.6 yards per rush and his longest gain went for only seven yards. Nevertheless, he scored the game-winning touchdown with just over six minutes remaining on a three-yard scamper into the end zone. Singletary will enter the postseason as Houston's clear lead back and should get a heavy workload regardless of the team's wild-card round matchup.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Sleeper RBs

Singletary had another quality outing in Week 17 against Tennessee with 16 carries for 80 yards and three catches for 6 yards on three targets, and he's now scored at least 11.6 PPR points in six of his past eight games. He should be considered a low-end No. 2 running back in Week 18 against the Colts, who are No. 3 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs this season. A running back has scored at least 11.8 PPR points against Indianapolis in seven games in a row, with 10 running backs hitting that mark over that span. The Colts have only allowed five total touchdowns during that time, but seven running backs have gone over 100 total yards in those seven games.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Start Him (Lineup Decision)

In his past five games, Singletary has averaged a steady 4.8 yards per rush while seeing his role in the passing game blossom over his past three (at least three grabs in each including last week with C.J. Stroud back under center). If there's a concern it's that Singletary isn't consistently getting a ton of playing time -- he's playing about 67% of the snaps when the Texans aren't blowing someone out (or getting blown out) and has started losing third downs to Dare Ogunbowale. Indianapolis' run defense over its past four weeks has allowed 4.2 yards per rush but have been excellent at limiting big plays (just nine runs out of 102 went 10-plus yards). They've gotten beat up by running backs in the passing game in those four games -- 8.5 targets per game, 10.1 yards per catch (second-highest) and 11.5 YAC/reception (the highest) allowed -- but the Texans have rarely utilized their running backs in the passing game until recently (20.2% target rate in the past six weeks). It's a leap of faith to count on Singletary keeping up with the catch volume we've seen lately, but the potential damage he could do that way on top of what hopefully is 15-plus touches keeps him in line as an RB2. I'd start him over Najee Harris, D'Andre Swift, Khalil Herbert and Austin Ekeler.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Totals 86 yards

Singletary rushed the ball 16 times for 80 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Titans. He added three catches on three targets for six yards. Singletary's volume bounced back relative to his Week 16 performance, though he was once again affected by game script. He saw only half of the Texans' 14 rushing attempts in the final two quarters with the team in control of the game, which limited his final stat line. While Singletary will maintain a lead in touches over Dameon Pierce, he has now been held under 100 total yards in five of his last six games.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Sleeper RBs

Singletary struggled in Week 16 against Cleveland with nine carries for 44 yards and three catches for 19 yards on three targets, but I'm expecting a better performance from him in the rematch with Tennessee. He faced the Titans in Week 15 and had 26 carries for 121 yards and four catches for 49 yards on five targets. With C.J. Stroud (concussion) back from a two-game absence, the Texans offense should perform at a higher level, and Singletary should be considered a quality flex option in all leagues.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Limited workload in Week 16 loss

Singletary carried the ball nine times for 44 yards and caught all three of his targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Browns. The running back was effective on the ground once again, with his longest gain going for 17 yards, but Singletary's workload dwindled as the game got away from the Texans. Since his breakout performance in Week 10, Singletary has amassed 689 scrimmage yards in seven games with three rushing TDs and a 4.8 yards per carry average. He should be more involved in Week 17 against the Titans.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Tallies 170 total yards

Singletary rushed the ball 26 times for 121 yards in Sunday's 19-16 win over the Titans. He added four receptions on five targets for 49 yards. Singletary dominated work out of the Texans backfield, as Dameon Pierce saw only one total touch. Singletary took advantage of the absence of Jeffery Simmons (knee) along the typically stout Tennessee defensive line, ripping off three runs for double-digit yards. His biggest gain of the day came on a 41-yard reception in overtime, which set up the game-winning field goal. Singletary now has over 100 yards from scrimmage in three of his last six games -- two of which came with Pierce sidelined -- and he has established himself as the clear lead back in the Houston backfield heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Browns.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Scores team's only points in loss

Singletary rushed 13 times for 65 yards and a touchdown while failing to catch any of his three targets in Sunday's 30-6 loss to the Jets. Singletary was the only member of Houston's offense that enjoyed a modicum of success, as C.J. Stroud threw for only 91 yards before exiting in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion, while Dameon Pierce had just four carries for nine yards. After rushing for 64 yards in the first half, Singletary was fittingly the player that got the Texans on the board, scoring a one-yard rushing touchdown on the final play of the third quarter. Singletary seems to be nudging ahead of Pierce in Houston's backfield, but the entire offense would have a far less rosy outlook if Stroud fails to clear concussion protocol before the team's Week 15 game against the Titans.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

The Texans rotated their running backs by series last week, a change from the week prior when Singletary dominated playing time. But they also started using Dare Ogunbowale on third downs again, especially on drives Pierce started. I wonder if they'll use Ogunbowale even more in passing situations after Singletary whiffed on multiple pass blocks last week. Anyway, it was happenstance that Pierce saw all three short-yardage snaps (and a goal-line touchdown), but there's not much doubt that the more consistent runner is Singletary. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with Singletary, but both runners shouldn't be counted on for more than 10 touches each. That's too bad: The Jets have allowed at least 17 PPR points to a running back in six of their past nine games.

  • Texans' Devin Singletary: Role slips in victory

Singletary rushed the ball eight times for 36 yards in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Broncos. He added one reception on one target for four yards. Singletary entered Sunday having seen double-digit touches in six straight games. However, that streak ended as he fell behind Dameon Pierce in terms of workload Sunday, with Pierce drawing 15 touches to Singletary's nine. The Texans held a comfortable lead for much of this matchup, which led to a game script that fell more into Pierce's style. In games that Houston falls behind, Singletary may see his role increase again, but his volume appears to be unreliable for the time being.
