  • La'Mical Perine: Let go by Pittsburgh

The Steelers cut Perine from the practice squad Tuesday. Perine caught on with the Steelers' practice squad Oct. 1 after being let go by the Packers on Sept. 10. The 2020 fourth-round pick will explore his options and look to sign with a team in need of running back depth. Perine appeared in five regular-season games for the Chiefs in 2023, accumulating 22 carries for 77 yards and three catches (on five targets) for 33 yards over that span.

  • La'Mical Perine: Headed to Pittsburgh

The Steelers signed Perine to the practice squad Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. Perine inked a one-year deal with the Steelers in May, but he was unable to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He opted to sign with the Packers' practice squad but was let go by Green Bay on Sept. 10. Now in Pittsburgh, Perine adds depth to the Steelers' backfield, and he could be called up for Week 5 against the Cowboys if one or both of Jaylen Warren (knee) or Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) cannot play.

  • La'Mical Perine: Loses his spot

Perine was cut from the Packers' practice squad Tuesday. Perine signed with Green Bay's practice squad Aug. 30 after he was waived by the Steelers during roster cuts. The Florida product has seen action with the Jets in the past and most recently with the Chiefs for five regular-season games in 2023, where he had 77 yards on 22 carries and three receptions for 33 yards.

  • La'Mical Perine: Doesn't make roster cut

Perine was released by the Steelers on Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. Perine appeared in five regular-season games for the Chiefs in 2023, and he played exclusively on special teams in Kansas City's first three playoff games. After being waived May 17, he caught on with the Steelers six days later to compete for the No. 3 running back job behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren (hamstring). Perine wasn't able to show much during his three preseason outings, during which he accrued 16 carries for 46 yards and one touchdown while adding one catch on three targets for four yards. Given his experience on special teams, Perine should be able to catch on with another team -- either on the roster or practice squad -- at some point during the 2024 season.

  • Steelers' La'Mical Perine: Inks deal with Pittsburgh

Perine and the Steelers agreed on a one-year contract Thursday. Perine was waived by Kansas City this past Friday and it took less than a week for him to find a new home in Pittsburgh. The running back compiled 77 rushing yards on 22 carries while also recording three catches for 33 yards over five games with Kansas City in 2023. He'll be in line to operate as a depth option for the Steelers behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren if he secures an active roster spot in 2024.

  • Chiefs' La'Mical Perine: Gets chance to lead backfield

Perine rushed the ball 21 times for 76 yards in Sunday's 13-12 win over the Chargers. He added three receptions on four targets for 33 yards. Perine got the chance to lead the Kansas City backfield with Isiah Pacheco rested and Clyde Edwards-Helaire used sparingly. He delivered a solid performance, with his longest play of the day going for 25 yards on a reception early in the third quarter. This marked Perine's fifth appearance of the season, though he has played primarily on special teams. If he's active during the Chiefs' postseason run, his role is likely to remain similar.

  • Chiefs' Lamical Perine: Week 18 Waiver Priority List

With the Chiefs locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC, they should rest Isiah Pacheco for the playoffs. The question becomes if they'll rest Clyde Edwards-Helaire also, but if he plays then make him the priority where available since he's 70 percent rostered. Perine could be the lead running back for the Chiefs against the Chargers, and he would have flex appeal since Los Angeles has allowed two running backs in the past four games to score at least 17.5 PPR points.

The Chiefs promoted Perine to their active roster Saturday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Perine has spent the majority of the year on Kansas City's practice squad, but with Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) missing this Sunday's contest, Perine has been added to the team's active roster. • La'Mical Perine: Back with KC's practice squad

Perine is signing with Kansas City's practice squad Wednesday, Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest reports. • La'Mical Perine: Does not make team

The Chiefs waived Perine on Tuesday. Perine's only real route to the Chiefs' final 53-man roster was if they opted to go with four running backs, as Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire were already pretty much locked in ahead of him. That scenerio ultimately did not come to fruition, so now Perine will either need to get a practice squad offer or else he will be looking for a new landing spot.

  • Chiefs' La'Mical Perine: Returning to Kansas City

The Chiefs signed Perine to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Perine didn't actually suit up for a game with Kansas City after signing to the practice squad in late January, but he will get a chance to compete for a role this offseason. The running back was elevated for a game with Miami but didn't handle any snaps, and he also spent time on the Eagles' practice squad early in the 2022 campaign.

Kansas City signed Perine to its practice squad Saturday. Perine did not play in any game during the 2022 regular season, but the Chiefs saw fit to bring him onto their practice squad ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game. As long as Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Ronald Jones remain healthy though, Perine is a long shot to be elevated.

  • La'Mical Perine: Back to practice squad Monday

Perine reverted to the Dolphins' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Perine was elevated ahead of Sunday's wild-card loss to Buffalo to help provide depth with primary running back Raheem Mostert ruled out due to a broken thumb. While the 24-year-old Perine was active, he never wound up seeing the field behind Jeff Wilson and Salvon Ahmed, as these two were the only Dolphins running backs to log any carries. As a result, Perine failed to appear in a game over the course of a season for the first time in his three-year career.

  • Dolphins' La'Mical Perine: Joins active roster

The Dolphins elevated Perine from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's wild-card contest at Buffalo. The third-year pro has resided on Miami's practice squad since mid-October, but with Raheem Mostert out Sunday due to a broken thumb, the team was in need of reinforcements in the backfield. Jeff Wilson is slated to be the primary runner in place of Mostert, but Perine and Salvon Ahmed will be available for touches if needed. Through 14 games with the Jets between 2020 and 2021, Perine averaged 3.7 YPC on his 72 rushes, hauled in 11 of 15 targets for 63 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground.
