Per Stevens, Wattenberg sustained the injury during Monday's practice. The nature of the injury hasn't been announced, but it's prevented the 2022 fifth-rounder from practicing and puts him in jeopardy of missing Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons. Alex Forsyth would be in line to see more reps at center with the fist-team offense in Wattenberg's potential continued absence.

The deal includes $27 million guaranteed for the 2022 fifth-rounder. The Broncos have locked up another key piece on its offensive front, as Wattenberg has been the team's full-time starter at center over the last two seasons.
