Top Bucky Irving News

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Impressive rushing day in loss

Irving rushed 13 times for 73 yards and a touchdown and secured all three targets for 14 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-20 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He also recovered a fumble.

Irving outpaced Rachaad White by three carries and 42 rushing yards while adding his fourth rushing TD of the season on a 12-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Irving's carry total was the second highest of his young career, and he now has six straight games with multiple receptions. The 2024 fourth-round pick should enjoy a solid complementary role at minimum in a Week 12 road matchup against the Giants following a Week 11 bye.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Cleared to play Sunday

Irving (toe) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against San Francisco, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Irving has been playing through the injury for weeks, with Bucs coach Todd Bowles revealing that it's a recurring problem that dates back to college. It doesn't seem to have impacted the rookie much during games, and he did more in practice this week after managing just one limited session the week before.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Limited again Thursday

Irving (toe) was limited at Thursday's practice.

Irving managed just one capped session last week due to a toe injury before suiting up Monday at Kansas City, so he appears to be in a better spot this week with a pair of them in two attempts. Friday's practice report may give a sense of his odds to suit up Sunday against the 49ers, and if he's able to do so, he'll continue to split RB reps with Rachaad White, while Sean Tucker gets a few scraps.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Begins week as limited

Irving (toe) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.

Last Thursday, head coach Todd Bowles revealed that Irving was dealing with a toe injury that may linger for the rest of the season, but the running back was able to suit up for Monday's overtime loss to Kansas City and turned his 10 touches into 34 yards from scrimmage. Meanwhile, backfield mate Rachaad White had six touches for 35 total yards and one rushing score, and Sean Tucker gained 17 yards on four touches. A similar breakdown for the trio likely will be the weekly reality as long as Irving continues to be able to play on game days.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Nets 80 all-purpose yards in loss

Irving rushed seven times for 24 yards and secured all three targets for 10 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-24 overtime loss to the Chiefs on Monday night. He also returned one kickoff for 46 yards.

Irving led the Buccaneers in rush attempts and rushing yards, with backfield mates Rachaad White and Sean Tucker recording just three carries apiece. The rookie also was just as involved as White in the passing game and looked good on his one kickoff return, and his versatile usage once again was a testament to the team's focus on getting the ball in his hands. Irving now has five straight games with multiple receptions, but the unpredictable division of labor in Tampa Bay's ground attack and a tough Week 10 matchup against the 49ers will continue to cap Irving's upside to an extent.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: On track to play Monday

Irving (toe) remains listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Chiefs, but he's expected to play, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

On Thursday, head coach Todd Bowles told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times that the toe issue is something Irving will have to manage for the rest of the season, but unless the injury worsens, the rookie running back isn't expected to miss time because of it. Irving is still likely to have his reps capped during practices in the weeks to come, which could result in him carrying questionable designations into future games. Irving should be formally cleared to play in Kansas City when the Buccaneers release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, and Bowles hasn't suggested that Irving's workload will be limited Week 9. However, Irving is expected to continue splitting snaps with Rachaad White in an arrangement that may cap the fantasy ceilings of both running backs.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Suiting up Monday

Irving (toe) is listed as active Monday at Kansas City, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

When Irving showed up on the Buccaneers' Week 9 injury report Thursday, coach Todd Bowles told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times that the running back's toe injury was something the team will need to manage for the rest of the season. Irving proceeded to log only one limited session (Saturday) and left the weekend listed as questionable for Monday's game. With his availability now confirmed, he'll join forces with Rachaad White and Sean Tucker out of Tampa Bay's backfield. When all three players were active Weeks 7 and 8, Irving turned 18 carries into 67 yards and one touchdown and hauled in all 10 targets for 94 yards. Meanwhile, White had 27 touches, and Tucker was third with nine.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Status in question for Monday

Irving (toe) is listed as questionable for Monday's game at Kansas City.

On Thursday, head coach Todd Bowles revealed that Irving was tending to a toe injury that may linger for the rest of the campaign. After not practicing Thursday or Friday, Irving returned in a limited capacity Saturday and now has a chance to be available for Week 9 action. Assuming he's able to suit up, Irving will have to contend with Rachaad White and Sean Tucker for touches out of the Buccaneers backfield.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: At practice Saturday

Irving (toe) was present for practice Saturday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Irving missed practice Thursday and Friday as he continues to manage a toe issue, but his presence for Saturday's session bodes well for his availability for Monday night's game against the Chiefs. The Buccaneers' upcoming practice report will relay whether or not the running back carries a Week 9 injury designation.

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Missing from practice Friday

Irving (toe) isn't participating in Friday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The rookie running back will sit out a second straight practice while he continues to manage a toe issue that head coach Todd Bowles said Thursday might bother Irving for the remainder of the season. Though Irving's practice time could be affected in the ensuing weeks as a result of the injury, the Buccaneers aren't yet anticipating that he'll have to miss any games because of it. Irving will still likely need to practice in at least a limited fashion to boost his odds of playing Monday in Kansas City, and if he's active for that contest, he'll presumably be part of a timeshare out of the backfield with Rachaad White and, to a lesser extent, Sean Tucker. In Tampa Bay's Week 8 loss to Atlanta, Irving played 41 percent of snaps and finished with nine carries for 44 yards and seven catches for 40 yards, while White played 55 percent of snaps and took on 11 touches. Tucker finished a distant third among the group in both snap share (10 percent) and usage (two carries, one reception).

  • Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Toe injury may linger all season

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Thursday that Irving (toe) may not practice until closer to the end of Week 9 preparations and that he'll likely have to deal with his toe injury all season, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Irving played this past weekend after logging a DNP-DNP-LP practice pattern, and Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports that a similar ramp-up regimen will likely be employed in advance of Monday's matchup against the Chiefs. It wouldn't ultimately be surprising to see Irving regularly practice in such a capacity throughout the season, given Bowles' comments. During Week 8's loss to the Falcons, Irvin rushed nine times for 44 yards and brought in all seven targets for 40 yards, working as part of a timeshare with Rachaad White. With Mike Evans (hamstring) out for Week 9 and Chris Godwin (ankle) done for the year, both Irving and White could play key roles in the receiving game versus Kansas City.
