Saints' Lorenzo Styles: Opening season on injured reserve
The Saints placed Styles (calf) on injured reserve Tuesday, John Hendrix of AthlonSports.com reports.
Styles picked up a calf injury during the Saints' preseason loss to the Rams on Aug. 22. The injury is severe enough for the rookie sixth-rounder to open the regular season on injured reserve, requiring him to miss at least four games unless he works out an injury settlement with the team. Styles' first opportunity to make his NFL regular-season debut is Week 5 against the Vikings on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Saints' Lorenzo Styles: Tweaks calf in Saturday's loss
Styles sustained a calf injury during the Saints' 34-0 preseason loss to the Rams on Saturday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Styles will undergo tests over the next couple of days to determine the severity of his calf injury, which could prevent the rookie fifth-rounder from playing in Friday's preseason finale against the Cowboys. He finished Saturday's game with six tackles (four solo) and one pass defense.

Saints' Lorenzo Styles: Selected by Saints
New Orleans selected Styles in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 172nd overall.
Styles didn't see much playing time over the first four years of his college career but emerged as a starter in Ohio State's secondary in 2025, when he posted 30 total tackles and three pass defenses across 12 games. He caught the attention of scouts at the 2026 NFL Combine, when he posted an impressive 4.27-second 40-yard dash time, the fastest among defensive backs. Styles struggled at times with his processing time in the secondary, but he does bring experience on special teams both in coverage and as a returner, which should help him see the field in his rookie season. On defense, his main competition for snaps will come from the likes of Jordan Howard and Jonas Sanker.
