The Ohio State product was dropped from the Steelers' practice squad in early December, but it now appears the team had a change of heart. Sermon has appeared in four games for Pittsburgh this season, recording 51 kick-return yards across 46 special-teams snaps.

In a corresponding transaction, Pittsburgh signed veteran offensive tackle David Sharpe to its practice squad. Sermon is set to be elevated for the second straight week and will provide extra depth at running back if Jaylen Warren is limited due to his knee injury. Sermon played exclusively on special teams during last week's victory over the Patriots and will look to have a larger role versus Minnesota.
