  • Giants' John Michael Schmitz: Lands on IR

The Giants moved Schmitz (finger) to injured reserve Saturday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports. Schmitz was moved to IR alongside starting left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), so the Giants will be without two starting offensive linemen going into Sunday's game against the Raiders. With Schmitz's season over, Austin Schlottmann is set to start the last two weeks at center.

Schmitz (finger) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Austin Schlottmann is likely to step up as New York's top center for as long as Schmitz remains sidelined.

Schmitz (hand) is doubtful to play in Sunday's game against the Raiders. Schmitz upgraded to limited participation in practice Friday after opening the week as a non-participant due to a hand injury suffered in the Giants' Week 16 loss to the Vikings. However, it appears the 26-year-old still may need more time before returning. If Schmitz is unable to play in Week 17, Austin Schlottmann would likely start at center for New York.
