  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Has practice window opened

The Broncos designated Dobbins (foot) to return from injured reserve Monday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

Dobbins suffered a foot injury Week 10 against the Raiders that required surgery and a stint on IR, from which he missed the final seven games of the regular season and also Saturday's divisional-round win against the Bills. On Nov. 26, coach Sean Payton told Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post that Dobbins may be able to return later in the campaign, and now that his 21-day practice window has opened, he has a chance to return for either or both of the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots or Super Bowl LX if Denver advances that far. The team will submit its next practice report Wednesday, at which point his base line activity level will become known in advance of the first contest. If Dobbins isn't able to return this weekend, a combination of RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie will continue to man the Broncos backfield.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Practice window to open

The Broncos are expected to designate Dobbins (foot) for return to practice from IR in preparation the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots on Sunday, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.

Dobbins may not officially take the practice field until Wednesday, but it appears the veteran running back has a legitimate chance to be cleared for a return to action in time for Sunday's playoff matchup at home against New England. He was spotted working on a side field last Wednesday, Dobbins' first on-field work of any kind since he suffering a left Lisfranc injury Week 10. Of course, Dobbins may have to prove he's capable of handling full practice reps before being cleared to return to the lineup. If Dobbins does manage to get back on the field in time to face the Patriots, he'll rejoin RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie in a rushing attack that figures to be increasingly featured with Bo Nix (ankle) having suffered a season-ending injury in the divisional round, leaving Jarrett Stidham in position to start the AFC Championship Game.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Working on side field

Dobbins (foot) was spotted working on the side field at Wednesday's practice, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.

Dobbins is working on the side field for the first time since suffering a left Lisfranc injury Week 10 and subsequently undergoing surgery. Reports have suggested that Dobbins is pushing to potentially return for Super Bowl LX if the Broncos advance through the entire AFC side of the playoff bracket, though Thomasson indicates that he could be a candidate to get back as early as the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 25. In any case, the first step would be for Denver to open Dobbins' 21-day practice window, and for Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the Bills, the team's backfield will continue to consist of RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Could be back for Super Bowl

Dobbins (foot) is pushing hard to return at some point during the postseason, though a return prior to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 8 remains unlikely, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

The Super Bowl will be just over 12 weeks after Dobbins sustained a Lisfranc foot injury Week 10, which landed him on injured reserve shortly afterward. Dobbins has made tangible steps forward in his recovery and has rejoined his teammates at team facilities, though he isn't yet ready to resume practicing. To reach the Super Bowl and give Dobbins a realistic chance to return this season, the Broncos would need to win two playoff games following their bye in the wild-card round. RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie will continue to hold down the fort in the backfield while the Broncos traverse the AFC side of the playoff bracket.
