Elijah Mitchell: Out in Kansas City
Mitchell was waived by the Chiefs on Saturday.
The 27-year-old from Louisiana signed a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million with the Chiefs this past offseason but appeared in just one game prior to being waived. Mitchell has played in 28 regular-season games since being drafted in 2021, rushing for 1,523 yards and nine touchdowns. In a corresponding move, Kansas City signed Dameon Pierce to its active roster Saturday.

Mitchell will be a healthy scratch for a third consecutive game, as the Chiefs will go with a three-man backfield Sunday in Kareem Hunt, Isiah Pacheco and Brashard Smith. Mitchell got a chance to make his season debut Week 11 versus Denver but reverted to being a healthy scratch Week 12.
