49ers' Nick Zakelj: Active at OTAs

Zakelj participated in drills during OTAs on Tuesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Zakelj went to the 49ers' injured reserve list with ruptured biceps just after the middle of last season, but he's now evidently healthy enough for football activities again. He'll compete for a depth role on the interior of the offensive line this year.

Zakelj tore his biceps during Sunday's Week 10 win over Jacksonville and will require season-ending surgery, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Zakelj landed on IR on Wednesday due to the biceps injury, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. All 18 of the second-year guard's snaps this season have come on special teams.
