John Samuel Shenker: Cut by Las Vegas
Rotowire
Shenker was waived by the Raiders on Friday.
Shenker was let go after appearing in the team's last five contests, catching his only target for seven yards while playing 58 offensive snaps. The tight end will be placed on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, there's a good chance he'll return to Las Vegas a member of the team's practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Raiders signed fellow tight end Justin Shorter to the active roster Friday.

Raiders' John Samuel Shenker: Serving as No. 3 tight end
Rotowire
Shenker went without a target while playing 14 of the Raiders' 79 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Rams.
After being signed off the practice squad in late September, Shenker has suited up in each of the Raiders' last four games as the No. 3 tight end behind Brock Bowers and Harrison Bryant. Though Bryant suffered an elbow injury in Sunday's loss that at least temporarily puts his status in question for a Week 8 matchup with the Chiefs, Shenker is unlikely to see enough playing time behind Bowers to make much of an imprint on the box score.

Raiders' John Samuel Shenker: Signed to Raiders' active roster
Rotowire
The Raiders signed Shenker from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Shenker opted to stick around on Las Vegas' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He'll now be part of the Raiders' active roster, and with Michael Mayer (personal) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, Shenker will likely serve as the No. 3 tight end behind Brock Bowers and Harrison Bryant.

Shenker did not do enough to make the Raiders' 53-man roster, but the undrafted free agent agreed to sign with the team's practice squad. The Raiders waived Shenker on Tuesday.
Shenker signed with Las Vegas as an undrafted free agent in May, but he was unable to carve out a role in the team's tight end corps this preseason. The Auburn product will now hit waivers before becoming an unrestricted free agent, should he go unclaimed.
