  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Won't play against Bolts

Okada (hamstring) is inactive against the Chargers on Sunday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Okada will end up missing each of the first four games of the regular season due to a hamstring injury. He was able to return to practice Thursday as a limited participant, so he's trending in the right direction and could be available for Week 5 against the 49ers on Sunday, Oct. 11. Rodney Thomas will continue to start alongside Julian Love at safety in Okada's absence.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Questionable with hamstring

Okada (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers. Okada upgraded his practice participation in each Week 4 prep session. The strong safety went from a DNP in Wednesday's session to limited Thursday before finally upgrading to a full participant Friday. Despite logging full participation Friday, the 27-year-old remains questionable due to how long he missed with the injury. If Okada can suit up, he will be opposite free safety Julian Love for the first time since the Seahawks' Super Bowl 60 win over the Patriots.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Returns to practice

Okada (hamstring) was a limited participant at the Seahawks' practice Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Okada was able to make his return to practice for the first time since the beginning of the regular season. The safety is nursing a hamstring injury that he suffered in early September, but Wednesday's session is a major step forward in his recovery. Okada will have two more chances to log a full practice before potentially making his regular-season debut versus the Chargers on Sunday.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Okada (hamstring) didn't participate in Seattle's practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Okada has yet to practice since the regular season got underway as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old is in danger of missing a fourth consecutive game, and AJ Finley would likely notch another start at safety if Okada is unable to play in Sunday's matchup against the Chargers.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Misses practice Wednesday

Okada (hamstring) did not participate at the Seahawks' practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Okada has missed both of the team's first two games of the season while recovering from a hamstring injury that he suffered ahead of Week 1. The safety will have two more chances to return to practice prior to Sunday's matchup with Washington.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Won't play Sunday

Okada (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Okada missed a second straight week of practice and will not suit up for Sunday's divisional contest with the Cardinals. The strong safety remains sidelined due to a hamstring injury and doesn't appear particularly close to returning to the field. Rodney Thomas will likely be elevated for the second consecutive game to help make up for Okada's absence.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: DNP with new injury

Okada (hamstring) did not participate in Sunday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Okada's absence due to injury does not bode well for the strong safety's chances to suit up in Wednesday's NFL opener against the Patriots. With Bud Clark on IR, D'Anthony Bell may get an elevation to the active roster from the practice squad to start or support one of the other defensive backs for Week 1.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Signs tender with champs

Okada signed his exclusive-rights tender with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Okada is set to make $1.145 million over the 2026 campaign. The safety had a breakout year in 2025, starting 11 games for the Seahawks' secondary during the regular season and helping to secure the team's second Super Bowl win in franchise history. While the exclusive-rights tender locks Okada into a one-year deal, it is likely the ascending defensive back will see a much larger payday after the 2026 season concludes.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Full participant Thursday

Okada (oblique) was a full participant in practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. The safety was limited in Wednesday's session. Okada has been dealing with the injury since Week 12 but has not missed any time, and he appears likely to play again this Sunday against the Colts.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Full participant Thursday

Okada (oblique) was a full participant in practice Thursday after being limited Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. The starting free safety played through the injury in Week 13 against the Vikings and stayed on the field for 96 percent of Seattle's defensive snaps, so his limited participation Wednesday was likely precautionary. Okada looks on track to play Sunday against Atlanta. He has 49 tackles (32 solo), including 1.5 sacks, five pass breakups, including one interception, and a fumble recovery on the year.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Good to go

Okada (oblique) is active for Sunday's matchup with the Vikings. The safety suffered the injury last week against Tennessee and appeared to possibly be headed for injured reserve, as Seattle coach Mike Macdonald relayed after the contest, per Brady Henderson of ESPN.com. However, Okada returned to practice Thursday and entered the weekend with a questionable tag. Now that he's good to go, he should be in line to start Sunday.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Limited in Thursday's practice

Okada (oblique) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Okada's return to practice Thursday comes as a bit of a surprise, given that head coach Mike Macdonald relayed Monday that the third-year safety was a candidate for injured reserve due to an oblique injury. Nevertheless, Okada's ability to practice -- albeit in a limited capacity -- is an encouraging sign that the injury is not as severe as once thought. Friday's practice report should shed more light on Okada's chances of playing Sunday against Minnesota.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Looking at extended absence

Head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that Okada could be placed on injured reserve due to an oblique injury, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Okada injured his oblique during the first half of Sunday's 30-24 win over the Titans, which prevented him from returning for the second. A stint on injured reserve would require Okada to miss at least four games, so if the move takes place before the Seahawks' Week 13 clash against the Vikings, he would be eligible to return in Week 17 against the Panthers on Saturday, Dec. 27. Okada has started in each of Seattle's last seven games, but the Seahawks could be getting reinforcements at safety this week as Julian Love (hamstring) is eligible to be activated off IR.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Hurts oblique, done for Week 12

Okada (oblique) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's matchup against Tennessee, Corbin K. Smith of SI.com reports. Okada was hurt during the first half and was ruled out just before the beginning of the third quarter. Before getting injured, he tallied two tackles (both solo). Nick Emmanwori figures to log more defensive snaps at safety with Okada sidelined.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Solid in close loss

Okada recorded six tackles (two solo) during Sunday's 21-19 loss against the Rams. The Seahawks actually held the ball for the bulk of the Week 11 contest, and Okada logged his lowest defensive snap count (46) since Week 4 at Arizona. He still managed to collect six tackles though, perhaps appeasing some fantasy managers relying on him for IDP production. He'll remain on the outer fringes of IDP relevance for a Week 12 matchup at Tennessee.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Logs first solo sack

Okada compiled nine tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks, during the Seahawks' 27-19 win over the Texans on Monday. Okada was one of four Seahawks players to play all 76 defensive snaps in Monday's win. He recorded the first solo sack of his three-year NFL career late in the third quarter, when he came on a blitz to take down C.J. Stroud for an eight-yard loss, which resulted in the Texans punting the ball on the next play. Okada has started in four of the Seahawks' last five games, but he would likely revert to rotational role in the secondary and as a contributor on special teams following the Week 8 bye if Julian Love (hamstring) is able to play in Week 9 against the Commanders on Sunday, Nov. 2.

  • Seahawks' Ty Okada: Nine tackles against New Orleans

Okada recorded nine tackles (seven solo) in the Seahawks' win over the Saints on Sunday. With Julian Love (hamstring) and Nick Emmanwori (ankle) missing Week 3 against New Orleans, Okada made the start at safety and played all 73 defensive snaps after playing a combined 15 defensive snaps across Weeks 1 and 2. Okada will likely revert to his special-teams role once Love and Emmanwori return to health.
