Tate didn't catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 19-16 preseason win over the Seahawks.
Tate now has gone without a catch on five targets through two preseason games. It's too early to press the panic button for the rookie No. 4 overall pick, though it would have been nice for Tate to show some rapport with 2025 first overall pick Cam Ward. Tennessee's starters were outscored 16-3 in the first quarter by Seattle's backups, so Tate is far from the only Titans player underperforming this preseason. On the bright side, Tate showed that he's healthy Sunday after battling some stiffness in practice leading up to the game.

Tate took part in warmups before the start of Sunday's preseason game and is set to take part in the action, with Tennessee's starters expected to play most of the first half. Coach Robert Saleh said Tate's absence from Wednesday's practice was due to stiffness and not the hard hit he took at Monday's session, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.
Since being blanked on three targets in his preseason debut last Thursday at San Francisco, Tate hasn't got much on-field work this week, and his status for Sunday's preseason game against the Seahawks now may be up in the air.

Titans' Carnell Tate: Will be evaluated after hard hit
Coach Robert Saleh said Tate (undisclosed) will be evaluated after taking a hard hit at Monday's practice, Ben Arthur of FoxSports.com reports.
After hooking up with QB Cam Ward on a fourth-and-8 during drills Monday, Tate was slow to get up following the aforementioned hit but was able to walk to the sideline under his own power with a member of the training staff at his side, Arthur reports. Per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site, Saleh noted he feels "good about where he's at," and doesn't think there's concern "about concussions or anything," but upcoming evaluation will determine if Tate, the fourth overall pick in the 2026 Draft, requires any sort of stint off the practice field.

Titans' Carnell Tate: Blanked on three targets
Tate didn't come up with any of his three targets in the Titans' 19-13 preseason win over the 49ers on Thursday.
The rookie fourth overall pick was on the field for the Titans' opening possession and saw his first target in the end zone on second down. Tate's two other opportunities came during Tennessee's third drive, but he ultimately finished his night without making any impact on the stat sheet while working with starting quarterback Cam Ward during his time in the game. Despite the quiet debut, Tate naturally remains ticketed for a major role in his 2026 rookie campaign and will look to build some momentum during Tennessee's second preseason game against the Seahawks at home on Sunday, Aug. 23.

Tate's explosiveness stood out during red-zone and plus-territory team drills in Sunday's practice. He beat out Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott for touchdowns in separate reps, with Tate demonstrating a strong connection with second-year quarterback Cam Ward.
