Saints' Zach Wilson: Throws interception against Rams
Wilson completed six of 12 passes for 55 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception while adding four carries for 19 yards during the Saints' 34-0 loss to the Rams on Saturday.
Wilson was named the starter for Saturday's exhibition contest while Tyler Shough observed the game from the sidelines. Wilson failed to lead the offense into the Rams' territory in three of four series, and his short pass intended for Bub Means early in the second quarter was picked off by Al'zillion Hamilton, leading to a one-yard rushing touchdown by Stetson Bennett nine plays later. Spencer Rattler was statistically better than Wilson after taking over in the second half, with the former leading a drive deep into the red zone before throwing a pick-six, and it appears as though the backup job behind Shough is far from a done deal. Wilson will have the opportunity to secure the QB2 job in the Saints' preseason finale against the Cowboys on Friday.

Saints' Zach Wilson: Starting in Saturday's preseason game
Wilson will be the Saints' starting quarterback against the Rams in Saturday's preseason contest, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Tyler Shough will not play in Saturday's exhibition contest, and the Saints have opted to go with Wilson as the starter, with Spencer Rattler serving as the backup and Hunter Dekkers in the mix for snaps late in the game. Wilson played well in the Saints' preseason opener against the Jaguars, as he completed 11 of 16 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown in a 24-20 loss.

Saints' Zach Wilson: Signing with Saints
The Saints are in line to sign Wilson, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the quarterback -- who spent last season with the Dolphins -- will join the Saints on a one-year deal. Taken second overall by the Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft, Wilson joins a QB room in New Orleans that features second-year player Tyler Shough as the incumbent starter. Wilson last started a regular-season game in 2023, but prior to that, the 26-year-old drew 33 starts during his first three years with New York. He'll give the team another signal-caller with NFL starting experience to turn to, if needed.

Dolphins' Zach Wilson: Free agency looms
Wilson completed six of 11 pass attempts for 32 yards across four regular-season appearances (zero starts) with the Dolphins in 2025. He also carried the ball three times for one yard.
Wilson inked a one-year, $6 million deal with Miami in March of 2025 to presumably provide the team with developmental upside as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa. Upon Tagovailoa being benched Week 16, however, it was rookie Quinn Ewers (knee) who got the chance to audition his talents and start the Dolphins' final three games, an indication that Wilson isn't in consideration as part of the team's future plans. Wilson is now set for free agency, and it seems likely he won't re-sign with the team, though Tagovailoa has stated he's open to playing elsewhere in 2026, as Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports.
