  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Provides reliable depth at TE

Spann-Ford caught nine of 13 targets for 90 yards and his first career touchdown over 17 games for the Cowboys in 2025. The second-year tight end has emerged as a dependable depth option, drawing excellent grades for his run blocking while also handling a regular role on special teams. Spann-Ford got rewarded for his work in the trenches with a four-yard TD pass from Dak Prescott in Week 12, but his usage as a pass rush catcher behind starter Jake Ferguson remains limited. Spann-Ford has one more year left on his rookie contract before becoming a restricted free agent, so he should fill a similar spot on the depth chart in 2026.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Catches first career TD

Spann-Ford caught his only target for a four-yard touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Eagles. The second-year tight end barely kept his balance after colliding with Andrew Mukuba to haul in his first career NFL touchdown on a designed rollout by Dak Prescott in the third quarter. Spann-Ford's role on offense remains limited -- he has yet to see more than one target in any game this season en route to a 5-22-1 line on six targets through 11 games -- and even if something were to happen to starter Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker (8-63-0 on 16 targets this season) might remain ahead of him on the depth chart.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Notches fourth catch of season

Spann-Ford was on the field for 24 of the Cowboys' 67 snaps on offense and recorded a four-yard reception on his lone target in Monday's 33-16 win over the Raiders. Spann-Ford once again served as Dallas' No. 3 tight end, with his 36 percent snap share placing him behind Jake Ferguson (63) and Luke Schoonmaker (45). The second-year player out of Minnesota now has four receptions for 18 yards on five targets through 10 appearances.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: No targets in Week 7

Spann-Ford went without a target while playing 15 of the Cowboys' 67 snaps on offense in Sunday's 44-22 win over the Commanders. Though starting tight end Jake Ferguson went off for seven catches for 29 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, neither Spann-Ford nor fellow backup Luke Schoonmaker saw any involvement in the passing game. Spann-Ford -- who has recorded two catches for five yards on three targets through seven games -- will continue to see limited playing time on offense but should have a regular role on special teams.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: First grab of 2025

Spann-Ford caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's 40-37 overtime win over the Giants. The second-year tight end dealt with an ankle injury toward the end of training camp, but Spann-Ford was healthy to begin the season and caught his first pass of 2025 on his second target Sunday. The Minnesota product remains third on the depth chart behind starter Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker, but Spann-Ford's strong blocking could allow him to move past Schoonmaker at some point during the campaign.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: All set for Week 1

Spann-Ford (ankle) won't carry an injury designation into Thursday's contest against the Eagles. Spann-Ford returned to be a full participant at practice this week after suffering an ankle injury in late July. The tight end will now be all set to operate as a depth option behind Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker in the team's regular-season opener in Philadelphia.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Back at practice Monday

Spann-Ford (ankle) was able to practice Monday, Joseph Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports. The second-year tight end suffered an ankle injury during training camp in late July. Spann-Ford recovered in time to avoid a stint on the IR, and the fact that the Cowboys carried only three TEs on their initial 53-man roster is a strong sign that he'll be ready for Week 1. Spann-Ford will compete for snaps with Luke Schoonmaker (concussion) behind starter Jake Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Sheds walking boot

Spann-Ford (ankle) was spotted without a walking boot during the Cowboys' joint training camp practice with the Rams on Tuesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Spann-Ford injured his left ankle during training camp practice in late July and was expected to miss at least two weeks. He appears to be progressing in his recovery, and while he won't likely be available for Saturday's preseason opener against the Rams, he could be ready to suit up for the Cowboys' second exhibition game against the Ravens on Aug. 16. Spann-Ford appeared in all 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with nine tackles (on 14 targets) for 88 yards. He's battling with Luke Schoonmaker and John Stephens for backup tight end duties behind Jake Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Injures leg Sunday

Spann-Ford suffered a leg injury during Dallas' practice Sunday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Spann-Ford rolled his ankle while blocking on a run play. He was in line to serve as the team's third-string tight end behind Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker, but John Stephens could be poised for an expanded role should Spann-Ford end up being sidelined for an extended period of time.

  • Cowboys' Brevyn Spann-Ford: Fills depth role as rookie

Spann-Ford caught nine of 14 targets for 88 yards over 17 regular-season games in 2024. The undrafted rookie out of Minnesota did well to suit up for every game, but he was mainly limited to blocking assignments while Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker were healthy. Six of Spann-Ford's nine receptions came over two games in Weeks 11-12 while Ferguson worked through a concussion however, hinting as some upside as a pass catcher. Spann-Ford will head into 2025 in the No. 3 spot on the depth chart once again, barring a high-profile offseason addition by Dallas.

  • Brevyn Spann-Ford: Signing with Dallas

Spann-Ford plans to sign with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Spann-Ford spent six years in Minnesota's program, wrapping his college career with a 95-1,061-7 receiving line as a three-year starter. He led the team with 42 catches in 2022 and has plus size at 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds. Spann-Ford will try to make a strong impression behind Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker and Peyton Hendershot in Dallas.
