Jason Bean: Let go by Indianapolis
The Colts waived Bean on Tuesday, Amanda Foster of the team's official site reports.
Bean entered training camp as the underdog against Riley Leonard for the QB3 job behind Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. Bean didn't do much to close the gap, completing 14 of 24 passes for 144 yards, one touchdown and one interception across two games while rushing for 28 yards on six carries. Assuming he clears waivers, Bean could remain in Indianapolis as a member of the Colts' practice squad.

Colts' Jason Bean: Stays with Colts via futures deal
Indianapolis signed Bean to a reserve/futures contract Monday.
Bean didn't suit up for any regular-season action as an undrafted rookie with the Colts in 2024, but he'll get a chance to continue his development with the team. Joe Flacco operated as the top backup to Anthony Richardson (back) in 2024 but is slated to become a free agent this offseason, as is No. 3 quarterback Sam Ehlinger.

Jason Bean: Comes off injured list
The Colts activated Bean (foot) from the practice squad injured list Tuesday.
Bean has been absent from practice since Sept. 24, when he was initially placed on the injured list due to a foot issue. Now, the undrafted rookie quarterback will be eligible to resume handling a depth gig for the Colts. That role takes on new context with Anthony Richardson having been benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco, beginning Week 9.

Jason Bean: Placed on injured list
The Colts placed Bean (foot) on the practice squad injured list Tuesday.
Bean was spotted wearing a boot on his left foot/ankle at practice Tuesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. The severity of the undrafted rookie quarterback's injury remains unclear, but he'll need to miss at least the next four games before being eligible to come off the practice squad/injured list.

Jason Bean: Staying with Colts
The Colts signed Bean to their practice squad Wednesday.
Bean will stick around with Indianapolis after being waived Tuesday as part of its final roster cutdown. The rookie undrafted free agent will now provide the Colts an insurance option at quarterback should Anthony Richardson, Joe Flacco or Sam Ehlinger get hurt.

Jason Bean: Waived by Indy
The Colts waived Bean on Tuesday, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.
Bean signed with the Colts in May as an undrafted free agent. The Kansas product competed against Sam Ehlinger in training camp for the No. 3 quarterback job behind Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco. Across three preseason games, Bean completed 15 of 19 passes for 197 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 53 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. He injured his shoulder on his one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter of the Colts' preseason finale against the Bengals on Thursday. If he clears waivers, Bean could be invited back by Indianapolis to be on the practice squad, or he could look to take his talents elsewhere.
