49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Dealing with torn pectoral
Guerendo is not participating in OTAs due to a torn pectoral, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
The running back suffered the injury while lifting "about a month ago," per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com. Guerendo is expected back near the end of training camp, though he did already undergo surgery, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. The 2024 fourth-round pick did not receive a single carry in 2025 despite appearing in 14 regular-season games.

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Falls out of favor in 2025
Guerendo was only utilized on special teams this season, finishing with 100 kick return yards across 14 active games.
Guerendo entered his sophomore campaign with an opportunity to serve as Christian McCaffrey's primary backup, but he failed to seize the role in training camp and the team opted to trade for veteran RB Brian Robinson (92-400-2) to fill that role instead. The 25-year-old Guerendo averaged 5.0 yards per carry in his rookie season, so it was a bit surprising to see San Francisco's coaching staff give him zero carries in 2025. The Louisville product was healthy for the majority of the schedule and appeared in 14 games as a member of the special teams unit. Guerendo still has two years left on his rookie contract, but it doesn't appear that the 49ers view the running back as part of the team's long-term vision on offense.

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Healthy scratch again in Week 17
Guerendo (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday night's contest against Chicago.
Guerendo will be a healthy scratch for the second straight week after having played in the team's previous 14 contests. Jordan James will get another nod as the 49ers' No. 3 running back behind Christian McCaffrey and Brian Robinson in Week 17.

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Inactive for MNF
Guerendo (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Colts.
Guerendo has appeared in all 14 games this season leading up to Monday night, but rookie Jordan James is getting the nod over him against the Colts as the Niners' RB3 behind Christian McCaffrey and Brian Robinson. All of Guerendo's 173 snaps this season have come on special teams.

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Role remains marginalized
Guerendo logged three snaps on special teams in Sunday's 37-24 win over the Titans.
Guerendo remained a non-factor on offense behind Christian McCaffrey and Brian Robinson on San Francisco's running back depth chart. The 25-year-old Guerendo once returned kickoffs for the 49ers, but the team has removed him from that role completely since Week 5. Barring a string of catastrophic injuries in the backfield, Guerendo can safely be ignored during the fantasy playoffs.

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: No run on offense this season
Guerendo played all 10 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 26-15 loss to the Texans.
As a rookie last season, Guerendo showcased some explosiveness out of the San Francisco backfield with averages of 5.0 yards per carry and 10.1 yards per reception over 16 games, but he has yet to play a snap on offense in the 49ers' first eight games of 2025. With lead back Christian McCaffrey having thus far stayed healthy while handling huge snap and touch counts each week, Brian Robinson has picked up the remaining scraps left over in the backfield. So long as McCaffrey and Robinson are able to avoid injury, Guerendo looks as though he'll be limited to a role on kickoff returns and kick-coverage units.
