  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Goes for 143 yards on 27 touches

Brown carried the ball 22 times for 86 yards while catching five of seven targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Chargers.

Brown continues to be the bell cow for Cincinnati's backfield, surrendering no carries to fellow running backs while producing 143 yards on 27 total touches. The sophomore out of Illinois failed to extend a modest three-game touchdown streak, but it's hard to scoff at this kind of production from a player that was likely snagged off the wire early in the fantasy season. Brown will enter Cincinnati's bye week with 957 yards from scrimmage and seven total touchdowns in as many games played (12) as his rookie season.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Logs 22 touches in loss

Brown rushed 13 times for 42 yards and a touchdown and secured nine of 11 targets for 52 yards in the Bengals' 35-34 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble.

Brown once again filled the lead-back role and was the only Bengals running back to record a rush attempt, but he was nearly as involved as a receiver due to game script. The second-year back finished second in receptions, receiving yards and targets behind Ja'Marr Chase, and he was able to post his fifth rushing touchdown of the season on a one-yard run to cap off the opening possession of the game. Brown will eventually begin sharing touches with the recently acquired Khalil Herbert, but he should continue to pace the ground game in a Week 11 road tilt against the Chargers on Sunday night, Nov. 17.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Gets new backfield complement

Brown will have a new backup for Week 10 after Cincinnati acquired Khalil Herbert from Chicago on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Through the Bengals' first eight games of the season, Brown had been working in a timeshare with Zack Moss. Brown dominated the backfield in a Week 9 win over the Raiders after Moss was ruled out for the contest due to a neck injury, playing 79 percent of the snaps and amassing a career-high 120 yards on the ground while taking on all of the running-back usage (27 carries, five receptions). Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Moss is slated to miss at least the rest of the regular season, but the addition of Herbert -- who has averaged 4.8 yards per carry over 48 career games -- provides more formidable competition for supplementary work behind Brown than Trayveon Williams or Kendall Milton. With Herbert in the fold, Brown shouldn't be expected to handle 100 percent of the backfield usage as he did in Week 9, but the second-year back should still see a sizable three-down role.
