  • Giants' Jevon Holland: Snatches first interception of year

Holland recorded four total tackles (three solo) and an interception in Sunday's 34-27 overtime loss to Detroit. Holland was able to secure at least four takedowns for the third straight game since returning from a two-game absence with a knee injury. He did make his biggest mark in pass coverage though, picking off Jared Goff in the third quarter for his first interception of the year. Holland is now up to 43 total tackles (26 solo) and five passes defensed, including an interception, over 10 contests in his first campaign with New York.

The first-year Giant has appeared in seven games this season, recording 28 total tackles and three passes defended. If he's held out for the third consecutive game in Week 10, Dane Belton is expected to start at free safety.

Holland missed the Giants' last two games due to a knee injury he sustained in Week 7 against the Broncos. He was a limited practice participant during Week 9 prep but was not cleared to play against the 49ers, so he may have to log a full session over the next two days in order to get the green light to play against the Bears on Sunday.

Holland logged three tackles (one solo) and a pass defense during the Giants' 34-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday. Holland was cleared to play Thursday after tending to a lingering calf injury. • Giants' Jevon Holland: Gets three-year deal with Big Blue

Holland and the Giants reached agreement Tuesday on a three-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The deal reportedly has a base value of $45.3 million and can pay him up to $46.8 million, with $30.3 million guaranteed. That puts Holland well behind fellow safeties Antoine Winfield, Derwin James, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Budda Baker, but it's at least in line with the second/third tiers of contracts at his position. Holland turned 25 earlier in March, after averaging 75.3 tackles, 6.3 pass defenses, 1.3 interceptions, 1.3 sacks, 1.3 forced fumbles and 1.0 fumble recoveries in four seasons with the Dolphins. He played 60 of a possible 68-regular season games, becoming an every-down player Week 5 of his rookie campaign and never relinquishing the role.

Miami isn't expected to place a franchise tag on Holland, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. However, the free safety finished with a career-low 62 tackles and didn't record an interception for the first time since coming into the league in 2021. If Miami indeed declines to put a franchise tag on him, Holland will become a free agent.

He returned to practice Friday, and after the session he told reporters that he'll be a game-time decision for Monday's game, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. • Dolphins' Jevon Holland: Limited to open week

Holland (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. He wasn't able to practice all of last week, so his ability to return Thursday, albeit in a limited fashion, indicates the 2021 second-round pick is trending in the right direction. Holland will have two more chances this week to increase his practice participation ahead of Monday's game against the Rams.
