VanSumeren was waived by the Bills on Sunday after failing to crack the team's 53-man roster, but he'll get a new opportunity as a member of the Chiefs' practice squad. He has appeared in 21 regular-season games across three seasons with the Eagles since entering the league in May of 2023 as an undrafted free agent.

Philadelphia opted not to tender VanSumeren after his third season with the team back in March, but it didn't take long for him to get another shot with a new squad. His 2025 season ended prematurely due to him tearing his patella tendon during the opening kickoff of Week 1, but in the two years prior, his elite speed, strength and explosiveness allowed him to earn opportunities on special teams.

VanSumeren suffered a concussion in the first half of last Sunday's tilt against the Jaguars and didn't return to the game. However, he's been able to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol and will be able to suit up Sunday.
