  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Comes up empty in team debut

Mingo played 24 of the Cowboys' 83 offensive snaps and failed to reel in any of his four targets in Monday's 34-10 loss to the Texans. Making his Cowboys debut after he was acquired from the Panthers on Nov. 5, Mingo was the only active Dallas skill-position player who finished without a reception on a night in which quarterback Cooper Rush dropped back 60 times and targeted 11 different pass catchers. Mingo finished fourth among Dallas receivers in snaps, but he could drop down a spot in the pecking order if Brandin Cooks (knee) -- who has resumed practicing this week -- is activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game at Washington.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Set for team debut Monday

Mingo is active for Monday's game against the Texans, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Mingo was moved from Carolina to Dallas at the trade deadline on Nov. 5, but he understandably was held out Week 10 with only days to acclimate to a new offense. With another week of practice under his belt, he'll make his Cowboys debut Monday, but with Cooper Rush handling QB duties for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb (back) the clear top option in the passing game, Mingo may be hard-pressed to produce. In 24 appearances with the Panthers, the 2023 second-round pick recorded 55 catches and no touchdowns on 111 targets.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Healthy scratch Sunday

Mingo (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Just five days removed from getting traded from Carolina to Dallas, Mingo won't be available in his first chance with his new squad. The acclimation process could take some time, but the Cowboys also are in some limbo with QB Dak Prescott (hamstring) likely to undergo season-ending surgery. Cooper Rush is taking over for Prescott under center, and top WR CeeDee Lamb is playing through a shoulder injury, so Mingo may not have to wait long for his next game action if the team turns its focus toward the future.

  • Cowboys' Jonathan Mingo: Shipped to Dallas

The Cowboys acquired Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick from the Panthers on Tuesday in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round draft pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The No. 39 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Mingo struggled to find his footing during his one and a half seasons in Carolina, turning in a 55-539-0 receiving line on 111 targets over 24 games. Though he was never a high-end producer during his time in college at Ole Miss, Mingo was a coveted pre-draft prospect thanks to his good size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) as well as the intriguing athleticism he displayed at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine (4.46-second 40-yard dash time, 39.5-inch vertical leap). The Cowboys are hoping that a change in scenery will help Mingo unlock some of his potential, but his immediate outlook isn't promising with Cooper Rush slated to take over at quarterback for Dak Prescott (hamstring) in the short term. Mingo will slot in behind at least CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert on Dallas' depth chart at receiver, but he could push 2023 seventh-round pick Jalen Brooks for the No. 3 role.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Struggles again in Week 5

Mingo caught two of his five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Bears. Mingo tied Ja'Tavion Sanders for the second-most targets on the team and saw increased snaps in the second half while Xavier Legette (shoulder) was sidelined during Sunday's loss. However, it didn't lead to increased production, as the second-year wideout was able to haul in just two of his five targets. If Legette is forced to miss Carolina's Week 6 matchup against the Falcons, Mingo could have a chance to break out and serve as the Panthers' No. 2 wide receiver.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Struggles in Week 1

Mingo caught two of his five targets for 40 yards and rushed once for three yards during Sunday's 47-10 loss to the Saints. Mingo's sophomore campaign got off to a rocky start, as the 2023 second-round pick fumbled his first touch on an end-around in the second quarter. He rebounded fairly well, as Mingo caught two passes for 40 yards in the second half, including a 35-yard reception that helped set up Carolina's only touchdown. Despite finishing second on the Panthers in receiving yards, Mingo played just 33 offensive snaps, fewer than Adam Thielen (41), Diontae Johnson (39) and Xavier Legette (35). Even if Mingo takes a step forward in 2024, his ceiling appears limited by a Carolina offense that struggled badly in Week 1.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: First catch of preseason

Mingo recorded one catch (on one target) for four yards in Saturday's 15-12 preseason loss to the Jets. None of Diontae Johnson (groin), Xavier Legette or Adam Thielen suited up, which left Mingo as one of the starting receivers. The Panthers made a clear effort to get him the ball early, as he tallied a four-yard catch prior to having an 18-yard gain negated by an offensive pass interference penalty on the first drive. Mingo had a very disappointing rookie season in 2023, and he's likely to begin the new campaign as the team's third or fourth receiver.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Fails to corral sole target

Mingo failed to bring in his only target in the Panthers' 17-3 preseason loss to the Patriots on Thursday. He also rushed once for six yards. The second-year pro's quest to secure the No. 3 receiver role with a strong preseason didn't exactly get off to a rousing start. Mingo has been making a strong impression during training camp practices and drew the start Thursday with Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette (foot) all sitting out, but he couldn't capitalize on his one opportunity while playing with Jack Plummer as his quarterback. Mingo did put some solid play on film as a rookie despite Bryce Young's struggles under center, however, so his spot in the wide receiver pecking order should remain stable heading into the team's second preseason game against the Jets on Aug. 17.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Initially listed as starter

Mingo is listed as one of the first-team wide receivers on the Panthers' initial depth chart released ahead of the team's first preseason game Thursday against the Patriots. Mingo has been turning heads with his impressive play throughout Panthers camp, and it seems he's earned himself a spot as one of Carolina's starting wide receivers for the time being. He's slotted in ahead of 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette (foot), who's dealt with a couple injuries now and has yet to make his presence felt. Mingo was listed as a starter on the Panthers' first depth chart during his rookie campaign as well, but he went on to struggle, posting a 43-418-0 receiving line while appearing in all 17 of Carolina's regular-season games. The Ole Miss product seems to have built more of a rapport with Bryce Young in their second offseason together, and he'll have the chance to continue turning heads as the preseason progresses.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Standing out at camp

Mingo has been impressive during the first week of training camp, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer supports the notion that Mingo and fellow wideout Terrace Marshall have been two of Carolina's standout performers so far. The former was a second-round pick in 2023 and the latter a second-rounder in 2021, but both seemed to be fantasy afterthoughts after struggling last season -- even more so once the Panthers traded for Diontae Johnson and drafted Xavier Legette at No. 32 overall. With Johnson and Adam Thielen locked in for top-3 roles, it sounds like there could be lively competition between Mingo, Legette and Marshall for the third spot.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Just 22 yards on nine targets

Mingo caught two of nine targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Saints. Mingo led the Panthers in targets but didn't do much with the volume, though much of the blame lies with quarterback Bryce Young's inaccuracy. Young's frequent misfires included a deep ball on which Mingo got behind the coverage for what should have been a long touchdown late in the first half. Mingo has at least six targets in each of the last five games, but the 2023 second-round draft pick is still searching for his first NFL touchdown heading into a Week 15 clash with the Falcons.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Sleeper WRs

Mingo could be a sneaky No. 3 Fantasy receiver in deeper leagues for Week 14 against the Saints, who have struggled recently against opposing receivers. In their past five games, the Saints have allowed five receivers to score at least 12.9 PPR points. Adam Thielen, despite his recent struggles, is still the safer Panthers receiver to trust. But Mingo has picked up his play of late with at least six targets in four games in a row, including 10 targets in Week 13 at Tampa Bay when he finished with six catches for 69 yards. Bryce Young is developing a rapport with Mingo, and that could pay off in a big way to close the season.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Week 14 Adds (WR Preview)

Mingo saw a season-high 10 targets in the Panthers first game since their coaching change. It was his fourth straight game with at least six targets and his second game in a row with double-digit PPR Fantasy points. He has top 24 upside in this role, but he'll have to get into the end zone to make that happen, which he hasn't done yet.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Career-best performance Sunday

Mingo caught six of 10 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Buccaneers. The rookie wideout was the Panthers' leading receiver as he reached 60 yards for the third time in the last six games while setting new career highs in catches and targets. Mingo's been far from consistent -- in the other three games over that stretch, he managed just five catches for 31 yards total -- but it's encouraging that he saw significant volume in interim head coach Chris Tabor's first game in charge. Mingo's value appears to be on the upswing heading into a Week 14 clash with the Saints.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Week 14 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

I've been pretty skeptical about Mingo since the Panthers took him in the second round – how many successful wide receivers never led their college team in receiving (especially when they mostly didn't play with other NFL-caliber players)? – but it's hard to ignore his usage in the first game after Frank Reich's firing. The Panthers made a point of getting Mingo involved early and often Sunday against the Buccaneers, and it resulted in him putting together the best game of his young career. The Panthers seem to de-emphasizing Adam Thielen, and with little to play for beyond the development of their young players, hopefully, they'll continue to prioritize Mingo, who has some upside down the stretch.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Cleared for Sunday

Mingo (Achilles) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Mingo was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant with what now appears to be a minor Achilles issue. He returned to full participation Friday and figures to occupy his usual role as a starting wide receiver, hoping to build on the modest success of his 4-60-0 receiving line from Week 12 amidst what's otherwise been an unproductive and inefficient rookie season.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Paces Carolina's pass catchers

Mingo recorded four receptions on six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Titans. Mingo had one of his more productive games of the season, with the majority of his yardage coming on long receptions of 24 and 22 yards. That doubled his reception total of more than 20 yards this season, and it also was the second time in his last five contests that he's reached 60 yards. Mingo may find it difficult to produce consistently given the quarterback play in Carolina, but he seems to be taking positive steps in the second half of his rookie campaign.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Helps fill in for Chark in loss

Mingo brought in three of seven targets for 20 yards in the Panthers' 16-13 loss to the Bears on Thursday night. With DJ Chark (elbow) sidelined, Mingo saw his highest target count since Week 5 but was unable to do much with the opportunity. Bryce Young's struggles under center are helping cap the upside of all Panthers pass catchers, and Mingo could be back to a reserve role in a difficult Week 11 home matchup against the Cowboys since Chark will have some extra time to recover before that contest.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Two catches in Week 6 loss

Mingo caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Dolphins. Mingo's production was similar to DJ Chark's three catches for 26 yards, while No. 1 wideout Adam Thielen comfortably led the Panthers with 11 grabs for 115 yards and a touchdown. Carolina has a Week 7 bye, but Mingo is unlikely to come out the other side with a larger role in the team's lackluster passing attack.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Avoids injury report

Mingo (concussion) wasn't listed on the Panthers' first Week 5 injury report Wednesday. Mingo sustained a concussion during a Week 3 loss at Seattle and proceeded to be listed as a limited participant on all three practice reports last week. Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site relayed Sunday that Mingo officially cleared the concussion protocol, but the rookie wide receiver was inactive against the Vikings because he didn't log a full session prior to the contest. Now that he's able to take part in all on-field work to begin Week 5 prep, Mingo will return as a regular contributor to Carolina's offense for this Sunday's game in Detroit.
