  • Giants' Dru Phillips: Has up-and-down second season

Phillips notched 66 tackles and 12 defensed passes, including two interceptions, along with a fumble recovery over 17 games during the regular season. Phillips began the season as a starter but moved in and out of that role throughout the campaign due to his middling performance. Despite that, the 2024 third-round draft pick paced New York in defensed passes (12) while tying for the team lead with two pickoffs. Phillips will be in the third year of his rookie contract next season, though it remains to be seen what his role will be in 2026.

  • Giants' Dru Phillips: Limited by heel injury

Phillips (heel) turned in a limited practice Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Phillips played his typical allotment of snaps in Sunday's loss to the Commanders, so it's unclear when the issue occurred. That he was able to turn in a limited session to begin the week suggests his status for the Giants' Week 16 matchup is not in jeopardy. However, Phillips' participation in practice throughout the rest of the week will be worth monitoring.

The rookie third-round pick from Kentucky has solidified himself as the Giants' top slot corner, recording 55 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles over 11 appearances this season. • Giants' Andru Phillips: New York selects in third round

The Giants selected Phillips in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 70th overall. Phillips (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) is a bit smallish for a corner and lacks the conventional reach for press coverage (31 and 1/4-inch arms), but the Kentucky standout is a very springy athlete with some of the best jumps over many classes (42-inch vertical, 135-inch broad jump). Phillips projects as the Giants' third corner behind Deonte Banks and Cor'Dale Flott.
