  • Duece Watts: Victim of roster cuts

The Steelers waived Watts on Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

After being waived by the Packers in training camp last year, Watts joined the Steelers' practice squad in September and signed a reserve/future contract with Pittsburgh in January. He was competing for a depth wide receiver role in training camp, but he only managed to record two catches for 14 yards across three preseason games. Assuming he goes unclaimed off waivers, Watts could be invited back to the Steelers on the practice squad roster.

  • Steelers' Duece Watts: Limited impact vs. Houston

Watts secured his lone target for nine yards during Friday's 20-12 preseason loss to the Texans.

After spending most of last season with the Steelers' practice squad, Watts signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January. However, he didn't make much of an impact during Friday's preseason opener, with his lone reception coming with just under a minute remaining in the matchup. It seems unlikely that he'll make the Steelers' 53-man roster for the 2024 campaign, but it's possible he winds up on the practice squad in Pittsburgh or elsewhere.

  • Steelers' Duece Watts: Signs new deal with Pittsburgh

Watts signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers on Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official website reports.

Watts spent a good chunk of the 2023 campaign with Pittsburgh's practice squad, failing to appear in a game. The wide receiver went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft after a collegiate career at Tulane and he'll look to earn a shot to make his professional debut with the Steelers in 2024.

  • Duece Watts: Signs with Pittsburgh

Watts signed with the Steelers' practice squad Wednesday.

Undrafted in 2023 out of Tulane, Watts spent the offseason with the Packers before being among the final cuts at the end of August. He caught a nine-yard pass on two targets during the preseason. Watts will be practice depth for Pittsburgh.

  • Duece Watts: Won't make the cut

Watts is being waived by the Packers on Wednesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Watts linked up with Green Bay on April 30 after going undrafted out of Tulane. Ultimately, the 6-foot-2 wideout was unable to stake a claim to a depth receiver role on the 53-man roster.
