  • Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Sits out practice Wednesday

Rodgers (left wrist) didn't practice Wednesday.

Rodgers' presence on the Steelers' Week 14 injury report isn't surprising, as coach Mike Tomlin indicated during his weekly press conference that the QB would be among those whose practice participation would be limited to start the week. That said, Rodgers noted after Wednesday's practice he felt like his non-throwing wrist was healing. "I didn't come out of the game any worse for wear," said Rodgers, who started this past Sunday against the Bills, missing only a series when he was hit in the nose and bleeding. Chances are, Rodgers will return to practice Thursday, as he did last week when he logged a full session.

  • Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Playing through three fractures

Rodgers will start Sunday's game against the Bills but will be playing through at least three non-displaced fractures in his left wrist, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Rodgers suffered the injury in the Steelers' Week 11 win over the Bengals and was forced to miss his first game of the season in last Sunday's loss to the Bears, though he appeared to make a strong bid to be available for that contest. Mason Rudolph ultimately drew the start against Chicago, but he'll be returning to a backup role Sunday after Rodgers was able to show enough improvement over the course of Week 13 prep to gain clearance to play. Rodgers is still likely to don some sort of protective brace on his non-throwing wrist Sunday to guard against further injury.

  • Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Struggles in return

Rodgers completed 10 of 21 passes for 117 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 26-7 loss to the Bills. He had one rush for zero yards and lost a fumble.

Rodgers returned from a one-game absence caused by a broken left wrist and played with a cast to guard the injury. He was as ineffective as his stat line indicates, as he led only one touchdown drive on a short field that was capped by a rushing score from Jaylen Warren. Rodgers also had a game-changing mistake to begin the second half, when he was sacked and fumbled, which was returned by the Bills for a touchdown. He also suffered a nose injury on the play, which forced him to miss one drive. Rodgers should be the starter heading into a pivotal Week 14 matchup against the Ravens, but he's now gone four straight games with one or zero touchdowns and three straight matchups with under 165 passing yards.

  • Steelers' Aaron Rodgers: Some limitations

Rodgers (wrist) will likely not line up under center in Sunday's game against the Bills, instead being deployed in shotgun and pistol formations, Jay Glazer reported on Fox NFL Sunday.

The idea behind this is that Rodgers will have less impact receiving the snap in his injured left wrist. This limitation might not be as significant as it might seem, because Rodgers already often is in shotgun or the pistol, more than other starting quarterbacks.
