  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Throws two TDs in Week 2 win

Rodgers completed 18 of 30 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns while rushing twice for one yard in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Titans. Rodgers relied on his running backs, throwing a touchdown pass apiece to Breece Hall (26 yards) and Braelon Allen (12 yards) while also watching Allen run in a game-winning 20-yard touchdown with less than five minutes remaining. The veteran quarterback's stats don't jump off the page, but Rodgers did enough to get the Jets in the win column heading into Thursday's home opener against the Patriots. Rodgers has yet to reach 200 passing yards in a game with the Jets.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: QBs to Sit

Rodgers looked rusty in his return to action from last year's Achilles injury in Week 1 at San Francisco, and he scored just 10.6 Fantasy points. That was against a good defense on the road, but it won't get any easier this week at Tennessee. The Titans defense, which upgraded their secondary and coaching from last year, just held Caleb Williams to fewer than 100 passing yards and 7.2 Fantasy points. Rodgers should do better than that, but he's only worth using in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Rusty in return

Rodgers completed 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers. He also rushed once for minus-1 yard. Rodgers had just 64 passing yards in the first half, 62 of which came on a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive on the Jets' third possession, which was capped by a three-yard Breece Hall touchdown run. The veteran quarterback was picked off on a tipped ball on the Jets' first drive of the second half, but Rodgers bounced back with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Allen Lazard on a free play on the following drive. New York couldn't get any closer, though, and Tyrod Taylor mopped up with a touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter after the game got out of reach. Overall, Rodgers gave the Jets two vintage drives and looked like a 40-year-old quarterback coming off an Achilles tear the rest of the game. Perhaps he'll sustain a higher level of play longer once he settles in, and Rodgers should benefit from facing the Titans in Week 2 rather than a vaunted 49ers defense coming off a Super Bowl appearance.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: QBs to Sit

Rodgers doesn't have an easy landing spot in his first game back from last year's Achilles injury at San Francisco. The 49ers were No. 8 last season in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and Rodgers might have to ease back into action in this matchup on the road. We'll also have to see how much Mike Williams (ACL) plays in his first game back, and the Jets offense might not be at full strength in Week 1.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Looks healthy heading into Week 1

Rodgers didn't look hindered by his surgically repaired Achilles' tendon in training camp and will have no limitations in Monday's season opener against the 49ers, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Rodgers' first season with the Jets disastrously came to an end after just four plays due to an Achilles tear, but he has worked his way back to full health and is ready to go one year later. The quarterback had a heavier-than-usual workload in training camp to help shake off the rust, but it won't be possible to fully judge his readiness to return to action until the 40-year-old steps on the field in a game situation Monday.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Not playing Saturday

Rodgers and other starters aren't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. As expected, given previous reports that Rodgers wouldn't play this preseason. His first game appearance since suffering an Achilles' tear will come Week 1 at San Francisco on Monday Night Football, against a defense led by DE Nick Bosa, LB Fred Warner and CB Charvarius Ward. The Niners may start off without two of their better defensive players from last year, as LB Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) and S Talanoa Hufanga (ACL) are still on the PUP list heading into the final week of August.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Unsure about playing past 2024

Rodgers said Monday on Pardon My Take that he likes the idea of playing two more seasons but isn't yet sure about anything beyond 2024, Henry McKenna of FOX Sports reports. Rodgers mentioned wanting to play at least two more years after he was traded to the Jets last offseason, but he couldn't anticipate at the time that his first campaign would last just four snaps. He came back from an Achilles' tear and participated in a majority of the team's practices this spring, with the exception being an absence for June minicamp that the Jets were informed of ahead of time. Rodgers is back with his teammates for the start of training camp, leading an offense that made some big changes this offseason -- namely the additions of tackles Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses and Olu Fashanu to protect the veteran quarterback, as well as wideouts Mike Williams (knee) and 2024 third-round pick Malachi Corley.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Skipping minicamp

Rodgers (Achilles) is missing June minicamp for an unspecified event, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. The absence technically is unexcused, though Rodgers informed the Jets well ahead of time. That means he can be fined by the team, which apparently is a price he's willing to pay to attend his event. Head coach Robert Saleh didn't seem bothered by the absence, perhaps because Rodgers was at a number of voluntary practices this spring. The 40-year-old quarterback seems to have avoided setbacks in his recovery from the torn Achilles' tendon he suffered last September and should be a full participant for the start of training camp in late July.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Won't be limited in OTAs

According to coach Robert Saleh, Rodgers will have "no restrictions" when the Jets begin their OTA practices May 20, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports. After suffering a torn left Achilles four snaps into his first season with the Jets, Rodgers underwent surgery to address the issue Sept. 14. While the veteran signal-caller didn't see any game action prior to the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, he did practice on a limited basis down the stretch. With that in mind, it's not surprising that the 40-year-old is on track to practice in full during phase three of New York's OTAs later this month. When it comes to his supporting cast this coming season, Tyrod Taylor is slated to serve as the team's No. 2 QB, top running back Breece Hall is further removed from the ACL tear that derailed his 2022 season, and the team's wideout corps has been fortified by free-agent addition Mike Williams (knee) and 2024 third-rounder Malachi Corley. Still, Rodgers' fantasy upside hinges on whether he's able to avoid any setbacks as he looks to regain his pre-injury form.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Hopes to play multiple more seasons

Rodgers (Achilles) recently told the Look Into It Podcast that he hopes to play 2-4 more years in the NFL, per John Breech of CBS Sports. Rodgers hinted at a multi-year commitment when he was traded to the Jets last offseason, with his contract supporting that notion via full guarantees for his compensation in 2023 and 2024. He famously played just four snaps in the first season before tearing his left Achilles' tendon, and he was unable to return even with an aggressive rehab plan. Rodgers did practice with the Jets toward the end of the season -- including as the first-team QB in Week 18 -- but wasn't able to resume sprinting at full strength before the conclusion of the campaign. He previously mentioned wanting to play two more years beyond 2023, and even in the recent podcast interview he acknowledged he'd need "good fortune" to make it three or four more seasons. Rodgers turned 40 in December and should be back at full strength for the start of the Jets offseason program this spring.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Coming off IR, but won't play

Head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that the Jets plan to activate Rodgers (Achilles) from injured reserve, but the veteran quarterback won't be cleared to play for any of the team's final three games of the season. for the veteran QB to continue to practice as part of his injury rehab process. Though Rodgers will be added back to the 53-man roster for the first time since Week 1, he'll likely be inactive now that New York has been eliminated from playoff contention. The Jets are activating Rodgers solely for the purpose of allowing him to continue practicing with the team as part of his rehab process for his surgically repaired left Achilles' tendon. Saleh has yet to confirm a starting quarterback for this Sunday's game against the Commanders, but if Zach Wilson is unable to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, Trevor Siemian would be in store for his first start with the Jets.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Likely not coming off IR this week

Rodgers said Tuesday during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that it's unlikely that he'll be activated from injured reserve this week, which would end his 2023 season, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports. A player returning to action just 14 weeks after surgery to repair a torn Achilles would normally be out of the realm of possibility, but Rodgers has been on an accelerated rehab that included throwing before a Week 6 win versus the Eagles, getting designated for return from IR on Nov. 29 and logging back-to-back practices the last two weeks. Rodgers noted Tuesday that he won't be 100 percent for another 3-4 weeks, so it's apparent that Saturday's report from Adam Schefter of ESPN that the quarterback was slated to be medically cleared this week was overly optimistic. With Zach Wilson in the concussion protocol at the moment, the Jets may have to roll with Trevor Siemian under center Sunday against the Commanders.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: May be medically cleared this week

Rodgers (Achilles) is in line to receive medical clearance to play this coming week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Since Rodgers tore his left Achilles' tendon four snaps into the season back on Sept. 11 against the Bills, he's embarked on an unprecedented recovery effort. He was spotted throwing on the field before a Week 6 win against the Eagles, which he did multiple times until the Jets designated him for return from injured reserve Nov. 29. Rodgers has been able to practice for three weeks in a row at this point, logging work in consecutive sessions the last two weeks. New York needs a win Sunday at Miami to keep its faint playoff hopes alive, and if that comes to pass, Rodgers seemingly could find himself back on the Jets' active roster by Wednesday, when his 21-day evaluation window will come to a close. Whether or not he's allowed to play in a game remains to be seen, but his stated goal has been a return for a Week 16 matchup with the Commanders on Dec. 24. As long as Rodgers is sidelined, though, Zach Wilson will continue to direct the offense.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Limited in return to practice

Rodgers (Achilles) was a limited practice participant Thursday. Rodgers was held out of Wednesday's session seemingly as part of a pre-planned maintenance program for his surgically repaired Achilles, but as expected, he was back on the field Thursday, albeit with a cap on his reps. Since having his 21-day evaluation window opened Nov. 29, Rodgers has managed three limited practices over five total sessions. Rodgers has previously stated that he's aiming to return for a Week 16 game against the Commanders on Dec. 24, but the odds of the 40-year-old quarterback playing again this season appear to be dwindling while the 4-8 Jets have started to fade from the AFC playoff picture. Another loss Sunday to the Texans or in Week 15 against the Dolphins could prompt Rodgers to close the door on a return to game action this season, though Ian Rapoport of NFL Network recently reported that Rodgers could be added to the 53-man roster when his evaluation window closes and continue to take part in practices while serving as an emergency No. 3 quarterback over the Jets' final three games.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Not practicing

Rodgers (Achilles) won't practice Wednesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. His absence reportedly was planned, though prior reports had suggested that Rodgers would practice on consecutive days this week. That still might happen Thursday and Friday, though a return to game action during the 2023 season appears to be highly unlikely with the Jets sitting at 4-8 after a loss to Atlanta this past Sunday. After a two-game benching, Zach Wilson will reclaim the Jets' starting quarterback job Week 14 against Houston.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Return this season still unlikely

Rodgers remains unlikely to play again this season, despite experiencing no setbacks with his surgically repaired Achilles' tendon during his return to practice this past week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Rodgers' ability to get back on the practice field just 77 days after undergoing Achilles surgery Sept. 13 was already unprecedented for any player attempting to return from a similar injury, but since he's still facing significant limitations and isn't close to 100 percent healthy, the expectation remains that he'll be sidelined for the rest of the season, especially if the 4-7 Jets continue to fade from the playoff picture. The Jets will have until Dec. 20 to formally activate Rodgers or keep him on IR for the rest of the season, and even if the team's playoff standing hasn't improved by that point, Rapoport suggests that New York could still keep the 40-year-old on the 53-man roster as an emergency third quarterback. In such a scenario, Rodgers would continue to remain inactive on game days, though having him on the roster would help him stay connected and more involved with the Jets. While Rodgers remains on IR for now, however, the Jets will go with Tim Boyle as their starting quarterback for the second straight game Sunday against the Falcons, with Trevor Siemian and Zach Wilson on hand as the Nos. 2 and 3 signal-callers, respectively.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Officially out this week

Rodgers (Achilles) was ruled out Friday for Sunday's game against the Falcons. The 40-year-old is said to be targeting a return Week 16 against Washington, though he's made it clear he won't come back this season unless the Jets have a chance to make the playoffs. Rodgers was limited in practice Wednesday and Friday, sandwiched around a Thursday absence, with Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reporting that the QB intends to intensify his regimen next week. Rodgers plans to practice on consecutive days next week and hasn't ruled out returning to games before the reported Week 16 target date. In the meantime, Tim Boyle and company need to beat the Falcons this Sunday to keep any realistic hope alive for a playoff berth and a Rodgers return.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Limited in return to practice

Rodgers (Achilles) was a limited participant Wednesday in his return to practice and remains hopeful to make his return to game action Week 16 against the Commanders on Dec. 24, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. The Jets designated Rodgers for return from injured reserve earlier Wednesday, opening a 21-day window that he can be added back to the roster before defaulting back to the IR for the rest of the season. Both outcomes remain possible at this point, with Rodgers having noted multiple times that his return would depend on both his health and the Jets having a shot to make the playoffs. He's been cleared for "functional football activity" but not contact, and his return to practice Wednesday didn't include participation in 11-on-11 drills. The Week 16 contest Rodgers is targeting will be played three and a half months after his injury, which would make him the first NFL player to suit up for a game less than five months after suffering an Achilles' tendon tear.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Returning to practice Wednesday

Jets head coach Robert Saleh announced announced Wednesday that Rodgers (Achilles) has been designated for return from injured reserve. The transaction officially opens up a 21-day window in which Rodgers can participate in practices while the Jets evaluate him for a return from IR. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, Saleh noted that while Rodgers has been cleared for functional football activity, the veteran quarterback is not yet ready to take contact just over two and a half months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left Achilles' tendon. Rodgers is thus slated to be a limited participant in practices, and he's uncertain to be activated from IR once the evaluation window closes in three weeks. In any case, Wednesday's move is at least another step forward in Rodgers potentially playing again this season, though the 39-year-old has suggested that any return will hinge on the 4-7 Jets remaining in playoff contention in the weeks to come.

  • Jets' Aaron Rodgers: Hoping to practice early December

Rodgers (Achilles) said Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show that he's aiming to return to practice before his 40th birthday on Dec. 2, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported over the weekend that Rodgers was targeting the Jets' Dec. 24 against Washington in Week 16 for his return to game action, so Dec. 2 would seemingly represent his target date for being designated for return from injured reserve. The Jets' quarterback situation during Rodgers' absence has grown even more dire following the benching of Zach Wilson in the team's Week 11 loss to Buffalo, with the loss dropping the team's record to 4-6. With Wilson having since been dropped to third on the depth chart, the Jets will turn to Tim Boyle as their new starter with the hope that he can keep the team's playoff hopes afloat on the remote chance that Rodgers is possibly healthy enough to return for a late-season playoff push. If Rodgers -- who recently resumed jogging on an anti-gravity treadmill -- is improbably cleared to play Week 16, it would represent a remarkable three-and-a-half-month recovery from Achilles surgery.
