  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Pair of points in win

Malkin scored a goal on three shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's 4-2 win over the Capitals. Malkin notched his seventh multi-point effort of the campaign in this contest. He set up an Erik Karlsson goal in the first period before scoring the game-winner himself in the third. While it's good to see Malkin be explosive on offense at times, he's also been held off the scoresheet in nine games. The 38-year-old center has five goals, 13 helpers, 37 shots on net, 12 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 16 appearances this season. He's a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option until he can get to more steady scoring production.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Back on scoresheet in loss

Malkin delivered a power-play marker and added an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders. Malkin was credited with the primary helper on Sidney Crosby's second-period tally before the former potted his first goal on the man advantage this season. Malkin's 22:12 of ice time led all of Pittsburgh's forwards, and the hulking left-shot center spearheads the Penguins' attack with 16 points over 14 games. Overall, Malkin has collected four goals, 12 assists, five power-play points, 30 shots, five hits, 11 blocks and three takeaways while shooting at a 13.3 percent clip.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Stands out in loss

Malkin scored a goal on two shots, added two assists, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks. Malkin nearly hurt himself on his goal, as his momentum carried him into the post and boards after he blew past the Canucks' defense. The 38-year-old has been a boom-or-bust player so far, with five multi-point efforts and five scoreless outings over 10 games. Even with streaky scoring, he has three goals, 14 points, 18 shots on net, eight blocked shots and a minus-3 rating this season. Malkin is locked in as the No. 2 center, and he's been one of few bright spots for the Penguins early in the campaign.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Point streak ends Friday

Malkin didn't record a point nor attempted a shot in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes. Malkin was coming off a four-point effort in the win over the Sabres on Tuesday and had recorded four straight outings with two or more points, but the streak came to an end abruptly Friday in a game where the Penguins looked overmatched. Malkin has two goals and nine assists across six appearances so far in 2024-25.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Pots goal No. 500

Malkin scored a goal and added three assists, two on the power play, in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime win over the Sabres. With his tally early in the third period, Malkin became the 48th player in NHL history to score 500 career goals, and just the second Russian after Alex Ovechkin. Malkin's had a blistering start to the season, reeling off four straight multi-point performances and piling up two goals and 11 points during that stretch. The 38-year-old managed only 67 points in 82 games in 2023-24, the lowest full-season total of his career, but Malkin might still have at least one more big campaign left in him.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Inches closer to another milestone

Malkin scored a goal on his lone shot on net, dished two assists and had one hit in Monday's 6-3 win over the Canadiens. After setting up Rickard Rakell and Kris Letang, Malkin dusted the Habs with an empty-net goal, his first of the season to go along with six assists. It was the 499th career tally for Malkin, who recorded the 1,300th point of his career Saturday. The 38-year-old forward has multiple points in three straight games.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Hits 1,300 career points

Malkin put up two assists Saturday in a 4-2 loss to Toronto. The points gave Malkin 1,300 in his career, tying him with Jarome Iginla for 36th on the all-time list. The 38-year-old Malkin accomplished the feat in 1,148 games. Despite his age, he still has plenty in the tank, and he should continue to move up the list this season. Guy Lafleur sits 29th with 1,353, and Brendan Shanahan is 28th with 1,354.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Hits assist milestone in win

Malkin delivered two assists in a 6-3 victory over the Red Wings on Thursday. Malkin now has 800 career assists and is within 31 of moving past Henrik Sedin into the fourth-most for players born outside North America. Overall, Geno sits 34th in assists and 37th in points in NHL history. At 38, Malkin is on the downside of his career, but he's coming off a 67-point season and should be able to mirror that - or close to it - this season.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Produces assist Tuesday

Malkin logged an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 2-1 exhibition loss against Detroit. Malkin is on the back end of his career, but the left-shot center should be in store for another productive season when taking into account his role on the team. The 38-year-old will occupy his usual spot on the second line while skating with the first power-play unit. Malkin banked 27 goals and 67 points across 82 regular-season games in 2023-24.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Two points against Isles

Malkin scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders. The 37-year-old center wrapped up a solid finish to the campaign that saw him deliver four multi-point performances in his final eight games. Malkin ends 2023-24 with 27 goals and 67 points through 82 games, and he's now played every game for Pittsburgh in each of the last two seasons -- that's an impressive feat all on its own, as it's the first time he's managed to do that since his age-21 and 22 seasons. Malkin still appears to have plenty left in the tank, and he has some milestones left to aim for -- he needs just two more goals for 500 in his career and four more points for 1,300.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Helps out on power play

Malkin logged a power-play assist, two blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Bruins. Malkin has racked up four goals and four assists over seven games in April, with just two of those points coming on the power play. The center is at 64 points (17 on the power play), 189 shots on net, 70 PIM and a plus-5 rating through 80 outings overall. Malkin won't come anywhere near his 83-point campaign from last season, but he's been steady as the second-line center while enjoying a second straight year of good health.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Three-point effort Saturday

Malkin scored two goals and added an assist in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Lightning. After lighting the lamp twice in the second period, Malkin set up Michael Bunting's game-winner with a slick bit of stickwork, as the center tipped an Erik Karlsson point shot across the front of the net to give Bunting a wide-open cage. Malkin has four multi-point performances in the last nine games, piling up six goals and 11 points over that stretch. Saturday's tallies helped Malkin reach the 25-goal mark for the 12th time in his career.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Three points in win over New Jersey

Malkin scored two even-strength goals and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Devils. All three points came in the third period as the Penguins rallied from a 3-1 deficit. Malkin has two two-goal performances in the last four games, and he sits one point short of 60 on the season -- a mark he's reached 12 times in his career already. While he would need a massive finish to the 2023-24 campaign to get there, the 37-year-old now sits six goals away from becoming the 48th player in NHL history with 500 career goals.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Hits 20-goal mark for 15th time

Malkin scored twice Thursday in a 3-2 win over Columbus. The goals were his first in seven games, and both snipes came on the power play. Malkin's first tied the game 1-1 in the second period when he wired a one-timer from the right faceoff circle, beating Daniil Tarasov. Later in the same frame, Malkin tied the score 2-2 with his 21st of the season. He held the puck in the left circle and waited for an opening in traffic in front of the net before ripping a wrister with laser-like accuracy through the five-hole. Malkin has reached the 20-goal plateau 15 times in the NHL, which ties him with Patrick Kane for third most among active players. Alex Ovechkin (19) and Sidney Crosby (16) lead active players.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Two helpers in Dallas

Malkin picked up two assists in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Stars. The 37-year-old may no longer be a point-a-game player, but Malkin can still contribute. Through 12 games in March, he's picked up three goals and eight points, and he needs one more tally to record the 15th 20-goal campaign of his career. Malkin is also 10 goals away from becoming the 48th player in NHL history with 500.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Two-point effort Tuesday

Malkin scored a goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets. Remarkably, it was the first multi-point performance since Jan. 8 for the future Hall of Famer. Malkin is beginning to show his age though, and since the beginning of February he's managed two goals and eight points over 14 games -- solid numbers for some, but well below the 37-year-old's career standards.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Prevents shutout

Malkin scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Oilers. Malkin's goal came in the latter half of the third period, sparing the Penguins from the embarrassment of a shutout. The 37-year-old hadn't scored in 13 games, posting a meager six assists in that span. Malkin isn't in danger of losing his second-line spot, but his offense hasn't been reliable. He's produced 17 goals, 46 points, 151 shots on net and a plus-3 rating over 59 appearances.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Slides power-play assist

Malkin notched a power-play assist, four shots on goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks. Malkin has a helper in four straight games, an improvement from earlier in the month when he had one assists over six games. The 37-year-old's assist Tuesday was his first power-play point since Jan. 8, though the Penguins have struggled with the man advantage. Malkin is up to 45 points (13 on the power play) with 148 shots on net, 48 PIM and a plus-5 rating through 56 appearances.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Secures helper in loss

Malkin earned an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Wild. The future Hall of Famer has a point in six of his last seven games, but Pittsburgh is currently ranked 30th on the power play at 14.2 percent, which helps explain why Malkin hasn't marked the box score on the man advantage in over a month. Still, at 37 years old, Malkin finds himself with 16 goals, 25 assists and 12 power-play points through 48 games. These aren't earth-shattering numbers by any means, but there is still some gas left in the tank for the veteran forward.

  • Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Two points in win

Malkin tallied a goal and an assist in Monday's 4-1 victory over the Flyers. Malkin set up Rickard Rakell's power-play tally 45 seconds into the first period before closing the scoring in the third, beating Carter Hart with a wrister to extend Pittsburgh's lead to 4-1. The goal was Malkin's first in five games, though he now has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in his last 10 contests. Overall, the 37-year-old winger is up to 15 goals and 35 points through 39 outings this season.
