  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Two-point effort Tuesday

Karlsson notched two assists, one on the power play, in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to Carolina. Both helpers came on goals by Bryan Rust, including the game-tying tally inside the final minute of the third period. Karlsson has found a groove since the Olympic break. Over the last seven games, the veteran blueliner has produced two goals and nine points.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Two helpers in OT win

Karlsson pocketed two assists, including one on the power play, in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Bruins. The veteran blueliner had a hand in tallies by Yegor Chinakhov in the second period and Anthony Mantha in the third, the latter of which forced OT. Karlsson has been building momentum since the Olympic break with two goals, seven points and 20 shots on net over his last six games.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Tallies in shootout loss

Karlsson scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers. Karlsson has two goals and three assists over his last five contests. The 35-year-old defenseman briefly gave the Penguins a 3-2 lead in the second period, but the advantage didn't last. Karlsson is up to six goals, 40 points, 123 shots on net, 50 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating over 57 appearances this season.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Climbing all-time defensemen point list

Karlsson scored Pittsburgh's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Boston on Tuesday. He wired a shot from the point that beat Jeremy Swayman. It was Pittsburgh's first shot of the game. Karlsson is on a three-game, four-point scoring streak that includes three assists and 10 shots. He's on a 55-point pace, which would give him four straight seasons with at least 53 points and 10 of his 17 NHL campaigns. Karlsson has 909 points (1,139 games). At his current pace, he may hit the 1,000-point mark in 2027-28. Karlson is currently 13th all-time in scoring from the blue line, and with decent health, he will pass Bobby Orr, who has 915 points, into 12th later this season.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Slides two helpers in win

Karlsson distributed two power-play assists in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Golden Knights. Karlsson recorded the primary helper on both of the team's two power-play goals in the second period. With the pair of helpers, he is up to 34 assists, 38 points, 113 shots on net and 47 blocked shots over 54 games this season. The veteran blueliner has three assists across his last two games and will likely remain a key contributor to Pittsburgh's offense with Sidney Crosby (lower body) sidelined for at least four weeks. Karlsson holds solid fantasy value in nearly all formats moving forward.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Two helpers for Sweden in win

Karlsson pocketed two assists in Sweden's 5-3 win over Slovakia in Olympic round-robin action Saturday. Both helpers for the veteran blueliner came in the third period as Sweden tried to pad its lead to earn a bye to the quarterfinals, which will likely come down to a goal differential tiebreaker. Karlsson has three points, all assists, through three games in his first Olympic appearance.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Earns 700th career assist

Karlsson registered an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Rangers. The helper was Karlsson's 700th career assist. The 35-year-old defenseman reached the 900-point mark earlier in January, putting him within 100 points of becoming the ninth defenseman in NHL history to record 1,000 regular-season points. The assist was Karlsson's first point in four contests since he returned from a lower-body injury. He's at 34 points, 100 shots on net, 42 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 48 appearances this season.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Removed from IR

Karlsson (lower body) was activated off injured reserve ahead of Thursday's game in Edmonton. Ryan Graves (lower body) was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. It was reported Jan. 13 that the 35-year-old Karlsson would be out of action for at least two weeks, but the veteran blueliner seemingly made strides in his recovery and is poised to return to the lineup Thursday in Edmonton. If Kris Letang (upper body) isn't able to suit up, Karlsson may have a big workload in store if he's 100 percent healthy.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Lands on injured reserve

Karlsson was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a lower-body injury. Per Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports, Karlsson will be out of action for at least two weeks. Karlsson logged 23:12 of ice time in Sunday's clash with the Bruins, so it's not immediately clear when he suffered this lower-body injury. In order to bolster the team's defensive options, Ryan Graves was called up from the minors in a corresponding move. Karlsson has just one goal in his last 12 outings, but he has chipped in seven helpers over that stretch.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: One of each in win

Karlsson scored a goal, tallied an assist and put two shots on net in Thursday's 4-1 win over New Jersey. Karlsson tallied the opening goal for Pittsburgh just under seven minutes into the first period before picking up a secondary helper on Evgeni Malkin's power-play score. With the pair of points, Karlsson now has four goals, 29 assists, 92 shots on net and 40 blocks through 42 games this season. During the Penguins' six-game win streak, the 35-year-old blueliner has been a steady contributor to the offense with seven points, which include two multi-assist outings. The Pens' top defenseman ranks inside the top 10 in points among blueliners across the NHL and is tied for sixth in assists. While he likely won't reach the 100-point threshold again, Karlsson should continue to quarterback the team's top power-play unit, which should give him a solid chance at posting his best offensive season with Pittsburgh if he can surpass the 56 points he had during the 2023-24 season.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Secures 900th career point

Karlsson logged two assists and two blocked shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Red Wings. Karlsson's second helper of the game was the 900th point of his NHL career. The 35-year-old blueliner had 13 points over 14 outings in December and has started January on a high note as well. The veteran defenseman is up to 30 points, 86 shots on net, 38 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 39 appearances in a top-four role this season.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Records two assists

Karlsson had two assists, including one on the power play, in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Hurricanes. Karlsson assisted Anthony Mantha's power-play goal in the first period and also set up Thomas Novak's strike in the second frame. The 35-year-old veteran is on pace to reach the 60-point plateau if he stays healthy, as he has 28 points (three goals, 25 assists) in 38 games this season.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Moves past illness

Karlsson (illness) is available for Tuesday's home game against the Hurricanes, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports. Karlsson didn't practice Monday due to an illness, but he'll avoid missing his first game of the season Tuesday. The right-shot blueliner should assume his usual duties on the No. 1 pairing while seeing time with the man advantage against Carolina.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Dealing with illness

Karlsson will miss Monday's practice because of an illness. Karlsson has three goals and 26 points in 37 outings this season. If he can't play Tuesday versus Carolina, then Connor Clifton might draw into the lineup. Karlsson's absence would also probably bump Kris Letang up to the top power-play unit.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Extends point streak

Karlsson recorded a power-play goal and an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Oilers. Karlsson not only posted his first multi-point performance since Dec. 9, but he also extended his prolific point streak to five contests. The 35-year-old defenseman has 25 points in 32 games this season, tallying three goals and 22 assists. He ranks among the top 10 in points among blueliners this campaign.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Strikes on power play in loss

Karlsson scored a power-play goal on five shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Canadiens. Karlsson keeps rolling on offense with a goal and seven helpers over his last eight games. The goal was his first since Nov. 3. The defenseman is at two goals, 21 points, 64 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 29 appearances. The Penguins have been better than expected, and Karlsson is on pace for his best year in black and gold.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Unlucky two-assist effort

Karlsson had two assists in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Ducks on Tuesday. He was unlucky, too -- the game-tying goal with 0.1 second left in the third period went in off his glove, forcing overtime and ultimately the shootout. Karlsson is having another strong season. He has 20 points, including 19 assists, in 28 games, but unless he goes on a real tear, there's no way he can hit double digit snipes. Still, Karlsson is a strong fantasy play.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Two-point effort Monday

Karlsson collected two power-play assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers. The 35-year-old blueliner helped break open a 1-1 tie in the second period by having a hand in tallies by Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust. Karlsson cooled off considerably in November, and since his last multi-point performance Oct. 27, he'd managed just one goal -- his only tally of the season -- and six points in the 14 games prior to Monday's outburst.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Sets up opening goal

Karlsson provided an assist and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Predators. Karlsson's trip to his home country during Sunday's Global Series game in Sweden was a success. Not only did he help the Penguins secure a shutout win, but he also etched his name on the scoresheet with the primary helper on the opening goal scored by his defense partner, Parker Wotherspoon. Overall, the 35-year-old Karlsson is up to 12 assists, 13 points, 36 shots on goal and 21 blocks through 19 games this season. Even in his 17th season, he remains a solid option in all fantasy formats for his category coverage and offensive output, as he is currently just outside the top 10 in points among NHL defensemen.

  • Penguins' Erik Karlsson: Opens scoring in loss

Karlsson scored a goal on three shots in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Maple Leafs. The goal at 13:08 of the first period was Karlsson's first of the season. The 35-year-old defenseman is up to 11 points, 26 shots on net, 15 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating through 14 appearances. He's benefited from the Penguins' strong start to the season, and he should provide steady offense while occupying a top-four role and a spot on the first power-play unit.
