The Bruins sent Brown to AHL Providence on Saturday, according to Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal.
Brown was a minus-1 in 12:42 of action Thursday in a 7-2 loss to Dallas. The 32-year-old had three goals and four assists in 12 appearances with Providence before his recall. The Bruins recalled Georgi Merkulov from the AHL in a corresponding move.

Brown was elevated from AHL Providence on Monday.
Brown's promotion comes as AHL Providence was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs Friday. As such, there is no guarantee the veteran center will get ice time even with the injury to Brad Marchand (upper body). Still, Brown does have 149 games of NHL experience under his belt, which should improve his chances of getting into the lineup if needed.

While Brown could technically be added to the roster ahead of Game 3 versus the Panthers on Friday, he seems more likely to suit up for Providence in their Calder Cup matchup with AHL Hartford on Friday. Still, the veteran center did log 8:27 of ice time in Game 1 and could see more opportunities with the Bruins during the best-of-seven series.
