  • Josh Ho-Sang: Heads to Russia

Ho-Sang signed a deal with KHL Salavat on Saturday, Kevin Weekes of NHL Network reports. Ho-Sang hasn't seen any NHL action since the 2018-19 campaign, when he appeared in 10 games with the Islanders. Last season, the 26-year-old tallied 35 points in 47 games with AHL Toronto. The 2014 first-round pick scored 24 points in 53 career NHL contests and never found much consistency once he turned pro.

  • Maple Leafs' Josh Ho-Sang: Signs minor-league deal

Ho-Sang signed a minor-league contract with AHL Toronto on Tuesday. Ho-Sang attended the Maple Leafs' camp on a professional tryout, but that wasn't enough to get him an NHL deal. He'll remain with the organization while likely playing a prominent scoring role in the bus league.

  • Maple Leafs' Josh Ho-Sang: Will sign PTO with Toronto

Ho-Sang will attend the Maple Leafs' training camp on a professional tryout offer, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports. Ho-Sang spent the 2020-21 season playing with Orebro HK and Linkoping HC of the SHL, picking up two goals and one assist through nine games. At this point the 2014 first-round pick should probably be considered a longshot to make Toronto's Opening Night roster, but if he performs well in camp, he could land a two-way deal with the Leafs.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Loaned overseas

Ho-Sang has been loaned to Linkoping HC of the Swedish Hockey League, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. This will be the second Swedish team for Ho-Sang after Orebro HK release him. General manager Lou Lamoriello has stated that playing in Sweden gives Ho-Sang a chance to show the Islanders and other organizations what he has to offer. As of now, Ho-Sang is still with the Islanders organization, but another failure abroad could lead to a change in that status.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Loan agreement terminated

Ho-Sang was released from his loan deal with Swedish club Orebro after the team cited training concerns, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. Ho-Sang played in just five games for Orebro this season in which he registered one assist. At this point, the 2014 first-round pick figures to head back to AHL Bridgeport for the upcoming minor-league campaign but is unlikely to work his way into a spot with the Isles. Following the conclusion of the 2020-21 campaign, it wouldn't be a shock to see the organization part ways with Ho-Sang.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Headed to Sweden

Ho-Sang has been loaned to Orebro of the Swedish League, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. Ho-Sang will play the rest of this season for Orebro as the Islanders try and figure out what they want to do with him. He has talent, but immaturity has followed him wherever he has gone. It seems to be only a matter of time before a change of scenery will be needed for both sides.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Placed on waivers

Ho-Sang was placed on waivers by the Islanders on Sunday, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. This may finally put an end to the drama that has been Ho-Sang as an Islander. General manager Lou Lamoriello has been trying to move Ho-Sang, seemingly every day since the former took over the job. Ho-Sang has physical talent, but the mental aspect of being a professional hockey player hasn't always been there. The writing was on the wall when Ho-Sang wasn't invited to training camp. This is a case where a change of scenery may be best for the player and the team.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Not invited to NHL camp

Ho-Sang hasn't been invited to the start of the Islanders' training camp, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. Ho-Sang penned a one-year, two-way deal with the Islanders in late October but appears set to potentially join the team's AHL affiliate when it fires up camp later in January. This likely signals that Ho-Sang isn't in consideration for the NHL roster to open the regular season.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Pens one-year deal

Ho-Sang signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders on Tuesday. Ho-Sang appeared in 22 minor-league contests last season, picking up 13 points, but he failed to crack the lineup for a single game with the big club. At this point the 2014 first-round pick's chances of developing into a regular contributor at the NHL level are appearing bleak at best.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Yet another demotion

Ho-Sang was reassigned to AHL San Antonio on Friday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. This would seem to be the Islanders' way of saying, out of sight, out of mind. If the team had any plans to call him up this season, it wouldn't have sent him so far away from Long Island. It's also possible that the Isles weren't able to trade Ho-Sang at the deadline, which also contributed to this move. The Islanders and Ho-Sang both seem to need a change of scenery.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Returns to practice

Ho-Sang (lower body) returned to practice for Bridgeport of the AHL, Michael Fornabaio of Connecticut Post reports. Ho-Sang was told to stay home rather than report to Bridgeport at the beginning of the season as the Islanders looked to meet his trade request. When no offer that met the requirements for the Islanders was received, Ho-Sang eventually did return to Bridgeport. Unfortunately, Ho-Sang suffered the injury shortly thereafter but should be able to return to the lineup in the near future. If Ho-Sang can prove healthy and plays well for Bridgeport, he may help the ailing offense for the Islanders at some point later this season.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Reporting to AHL Bridgeport

Ho-Sang will report to AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday, The Athletic's Arthur Staple reports. Ho-Sang has remained away from the Islanders organization since he formally requested a trade Oct. 3, but he recently reached out to general manager Lou Lamoriello seeking a fresh start with the team, a request that was ultimately granted. The enigmatic winger likely won't have a major role with the big club in 2019-20, but he'll hope to play well enough in the minors to earn a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent this offseason.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Status still unclear

There is nothing new with regard to the playing status of Ho-Sang, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Ho-Sang requested a trade from the Islanders after not making the team out of training camp. General manager Lou Lamiorello told Ho-Sang at this time to not report to Bridgeport and he would try and work out a deal. No trade is reported to be close. The Islanders are shorthanded on offense due to several injuries but Ho-Sang seemingly is not an option to be called up given that he hasn't played in any games.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Heads to waivers

The Islanders waived Ho-Sang for reassignment to AHL Bridgeport, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports. Ho-Sang is a skilled skater, as he was picked by the Islanders 28th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft. However, he comes with maturity issues and defensive-zone shortcomings. Ho-Sang didn't prove he overcame those red flags in the preseason, so the Islanders are hoping he can clear waivers and continue his development in the minors. There's a chance he's picked up by another squad, but he's a risky player to keep with the big club. Over the last three years, he's played in 53 NHL games, recording seven goals and 24 points.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Not lacking confidence

Ho-Sang believes he can be an asset to the Islanders if he were to earn a spot on the team out of training camp, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. Ho-Sang has had several stints with the Islanders over the past two regimes, but the same problems always seem to occur. The first issue has been his maturity level, which has improved since he was a rookie, but the second issue -- his play in the defensive end -- still shows up from time to time. The Islanders need offense, and Ho-Sang is a gifted skater who can provide it, but coach Barry Trotz insists on defense first and isn't going to allow Ho-Sang to freelance on the ice. If Ho-Sang can prove to Trotz that he has matured and that he will play as hard in the defensive zone as he does on offense, he could earn a spot on the second or third line coming out of camp.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Staying with Islanders

Ho-Sang signed a one-year deal with the Islanders on Monday. Drafted 28th overall in 2014, Ho-Sang hasn't found his groove at the NHL level yet, scoring just 24 points in 53 career games with the big club. On the bright side, he tallied an AHL career-high 43 points last season. For now, it appears the 23-year-old will split time between the NHL and AHL levels again this season.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Qualified by Islanders

The Islanders extended Ho-Sang a qualifying offer Tuesday. Ho-Sang hardly did anything with the big club in 2018-19, notching two points in 10 games, but he was productive during his time in the minors, racking up eight goals and 43 points in 56 contests. He'll get an opportunity to secure a spot on the Islanders' Opening Night roster during training camp, but it wouldn't be surprising if the 2014 first-round pick is once again stuck in the minors for most of the upcoming campaign.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Returned to minor-league affiliate

The Islanders loaned Ho-Sang to AHL Bridgeport on Friday. Ho-Sang didn't crack the lineup during his two-game stay with the big club, so this move doesn't come as a surprise. The 2014 first-round pick will be a restricted free agent following the 2018-19 campaign, and it remains to be seen if the Islanders will show any interest in signing him to a new deal, as he's been unable to secure a full-time NHL role despite performing admirably in the AHL during his three years with the organization.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Called up in a pinch

Ho-Sang was called up to the Islanders under emergency conditions Tuesday, Shannon Hogan of MSG Networks reports. This recall won't count against New York's four-player limit since the transaction itself was made due to two Islanders forwards being legitimately injured -- Matt Martin (upper body) and Cal Clutterbuck (head) -- and another that's dealing with an illness in Casey Cizikas. Ho-Sang claimed Player of the Week honors with AHL Bridgeport in mid-February, but the Islanders' 2014 first-round (28th overall) draft pick hasn't been able to seize a full-time role at hockey's highest level.

  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Player of the week

Ho-Sang was named player of the week for Bridgeport of the AHL, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports. We mention this because with the NHL trade deadline approaching Monday, the Islanders looking for forward help, and apparently Ho-Sang needing a change of scenery, it would seem a pretty good bet that he could be needing a change of address card shortly. The knock on Ho-Sang off the ice has been immaturity and on the ice it's his play in the defensive zone and his unwillingness to shoot the puck at times. Ho-Sang has tremendous skating ability, but his biggest value to the Islanders may be as part of a trade for a Matt Duchene or Artemi Panarin type of player.
