Bruins' Trent Frederic: Snaps 17-game goal drought
Frederic scored twice Saturday in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Blues.
He had gone 17 consecutive games without a goal (Oct. 8 in Florida). His first marker Saturday was off a rebound in tight; the second was a tip of a point shot. Frederic has three points (two goals, one assist) in his last two games, and that microburst has doubled his season point total. Much more was expected after he put up 40 points last season, but Frederic has really struggled so far (three goals, three assists; 19 games), much like the rest of his team. Right now, there are a lot better options for your squad.

Frederic scored a goal on two shots, added four PIM and went minus-2 in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Panthers.
Frederic is no stranger to the rough stuff -- he had 204 hits and 69 PIM in addition to a breakout year with 40 points in 82 regular-season appearances in 2023-24. The 26-year-old forward figures to be a consistent middle-six option for the Bruins this season. He also featured on the second power-play unit Tuesday, which could last throughout the campaign since the Bruins are relying on less proven options to fill out their bottom six. Frederic's biggest competition for power-play time is defenseman Hampus Lindholm, who is more likely to see time with the man advantage when the Bruins are nursing a lead.

While his bottom-six role and lack of playing time puts a firm ceiling on his breakout potential, Frederic is on track for a career-best season with nine goals and 18 points through 35 games. The 2016 first-round pick even picked up the pace in December, delivering four goals and nine points in 13 contests.
