  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Extends winning streak

Soderblom stopped 27 of 28 shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kraken. Soderblom has won his last three starts and four of his last five, so the 25-year-old Swedish netminder is on a good run. He's given up two or fewer goals in three of those wins, and even though the 5-4 loss to the Islanders on Dec. 12 is a stain in that five-game stretch, Soderblom still owns a 2.50 GAA and a solid .909 save percentage in that aforementioned period.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Between pipes Thursday

Soderblom will defend the home crease versus Seattle on Thursday, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports. Soderblom has won his last two starts, as well as three of the past four games. Although Petr Mrazek (groin) was activated off injured reserve Thursday, Soderblom will make his sixth start in the last seven games. Soderblom is 4-7-1 with a respectable 2.70 GAA and .909 save percentage this season. He will face the Kraken, who are averaging 2.88 goals per game in 2024-25, which ranks 21st in the NHL.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Second straight win

Soderblom stopped 20 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Capitals. Soderblom had a woeful showing against the Islanders on Dec. 12, giving up five goals on 19 shots, but he's bounced back admirably since then. He received some much-needed rest in the 4-1 loss to the Devils on Dec. 14, but he has won his last two starts, against the Islanders and Capitals, over three days. Soderblom has gone 3-3-0 with a 3.05 GAA and an .886 save percentage in six December contests, but there's no question his arrow is pointing in the right direction after his last outings.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Set to start Tuesday

Soderblom will start at home Tuesday versus the Capitals, Greg Boysen of CHGO Sports reports. Soderblom is set to start for the fifth time in the last six games. The 25-year-old netminder has gone 2-2-0 with 12 goals allowed over his last four appearances. The Capitals are playing the second half of a back-to-back after losing 3-1 in Dallas on Monday.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Gets hook against Isles

Soderblom gave up five goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Drew Commesso midway through the third period of Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders. New York scored three goals in under three minutes in the final frame to surge out to a 5-1 lead, and while Soderblom wasn't necessarily to blame for any of them, Chicago interim coach Anders Sorensen decided to send a message to his team by getting out his hook. The move almost worked, but Chicago's comeback attempt ran out of time. The 25-year-old goalie has appeared in four of six games to begin December, going 1-3-0 with a 3.35 GAA and .872 save percentage, but with Petr Mrazek (groin) likely out for another week or more, Soderblom will likely continue to hold down the top job in the crease.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Draws start against Islanders

Soderblom will serve as the starting goaltender for Thursday's road game against the Islanders, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Soderblom is coming off one of his best starts of the season, as he turned aside 29 of 30 shots (.967 save percentage) en route to the road win over the Rangers on Tuesday. He'll attempt to stay hot against the Islanders, who are averaging just 2.53 goals per game to begin the season.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Between pipes versus Rangers

Soderblom will tend the twine on the road against the Rangers on Monday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Timesreports. Soderblom is mired in a five-game losing streak -- he's actually won just once in eight games this year -- despite posting a decent 2.75 GAA and .906 save percentage during the skid. While New York has won just two of its last nine contests, the team still possesses a talented forward group that should put plenty of shots on Soderblom.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Stuck with loss in relief

Soderblom allowed three goals on 24 shots to take the loss Saturday against the Jets after replacing Petr Mrazek (undisclosed) midway through the first period. Soderblom inherited a 1-0 lead and headed into the first intermission with Chicago ahead 2-1, but the home squad managed to get just six total shots on net over the final two frames, eventually falling 4-2 to Winnipeg. Initial reports on Mrazek suggest he'll miss some additional time, so Soderblom will likely be between the pipes Monday on the road against the Rangers, with Mitchell Weeks or Drew Commesso likely getting the call from AHL Rockford to back him up. Through eight appearances this season, Soderblom is just 1-6-1 despite a more than respectable 2.60 GAA and .915 save percentage, and he hasn't allowed more than three goals in any of his outings.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Falls to Leafs

Soderblom turned aside 18 of 21 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs. Toronto's final goal was scored into an empty net. Chicago was never really in the contest, but Soderblom did his best to keep things close, allowing just one goal in each period. The 25-year-old netminder hasn't picked up a win in a month while seeing infrequent work behind Petr Mrazek, and Soderblom has lost his last four starts despite posting a 2.54 GAA and a .913 save percentage over that stretch.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Between pipes Monday

Soderblom will defend the road crease during Monday's game against Toronto, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Soderblom didn't start in any of Chicago's last five games, but he'll tend the twine for the first time since Nov. 19 during Monday's road matchup, which is the second half of a back-to-back set. Over six appearances this year, the 25-year-old has posted a 1-4-1 record, 2.37 GAA and .926 save percentage.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Facing Ducks

Soderblom will protect the home net versus Anaheim on Tuesday, per Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio. Soderblom made 38 saves in a 4-2 win over the Ducks on Nov. 3. He has a 1-3-1 record with a 2.22 GAA and a .934 save percentage across five appearances this season. Anaheim is coming off a 4-2 victory over Dallas on Monday and ranks 27th in the league with 2.53 goals per game in 2024-25. Drew Commesso will be the backup goalie because Petr Mrazek (personal) is away from the team.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Keeps it close in loss

Soderblom stopped 29 of 31 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Canucks. The last two goals were empty-netters. The final score looks bad, but Soderblom kept the Blackhawks in it when he was on the ice. Despite a strong effort, he dropped to 1-3-1 with a 2.22 GAA and a .934 save percentage through five outings this season. Laurent Brossoit's recovery from knee surgery has taken much longer than anticipated, but the Blackhawks haven't needed to rush him back thanks to Soderblom's strong play in the backup role. The team returns home to face the Ducks on Tuesday, though it'll likely be Petr Mrazek between the pipes for that contest.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Strong effort in loss

Soderblom allowed two goals on 39 shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Stars. The third goal was an empty-netter. The Blackhawks didn't play all that well, but Soderblom did his best to keep things competitive. While he's won just one of his four starts so far, the 25-year-old netminder has allowed a total of nine goals on 135 shots, good for a .933 save percentage. He looks much more prepared for the NHL in 2024-25 than he did in either of the previous two seasons, and that's good news with Laurent Brossoit (knee) not yet close to a return. Soderblom remains in the backup role, and it'll likely be Petr Mrazek who gets the nod versus the Wild on Sunday, though Soderblom's strong play could earn him more looks in the near future.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Rejoins team Monday

Soderblom rejoined the Blackhawks on Monday after recovering from an illness, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Soderblom will return to his role as the backup to Petr Mrazek. As a result of Soderblom moving past his illness, fellow netminder Drew Commesso was reassigned to AHL Rockford on Monday. Soderblom is 0-1-1 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.52 GAA through two appearances.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Unavailable Saturday

Soderblom (illness) won't be in the lineup for Saturday's road matchup against Dallas, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. Soderblom will miss his second straight game. He has posted a record of 0-1-1 this season, stopping 51 of 56 shots. Petr Mrazek will start again versus the Stars after dropping a 3-2 decision to Nashville on Friday. Drew Commesso will be the backup netminder.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Gives up three goals Saturday

Soderblom gave up three goals on 21 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Soderblom gave up a pair of goals in the first period, and John-Jason Peterka netted the game-winner at 18:37 of the second period. The 25-year-old Soderblom has given up five goals on 56 shots over his two appearances this year, but he has gone 0-1-1 so far. Petr Mrazek has done alright in the No. 1 role, so Soderblom likely won't be asked to play more than once a week, and he could be off the NHL roster altogether once Laurent Brossoit (knee) is ready to play.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Performs admirably in loss

Soderblom allowed two goals on 35 shots in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to Winnipeg. Soderblom drew the start Friday as Chicago was on the front end of a back-to-back, and he may have earned himself more playing time moving forward. Laurent Brossoit (knee) is expected to form a tandem in net with Petr Mrazek when the former returns from injury, but Soderblom could force Chicago to keep three goaltenders on the roster if he continues to perform at a high level. On the other hand, Soderblom could head to AHL Rockford if Chicago opts to keep two netminders on the roster when Brossoit is healthy.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Slated to start Saturday

Soderblom is set to guard the home goal in Saturday's preseason game against St. Louis, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. Although Chicago is technically the home team, the exhibition contest is taking place in Milwaukee. Soderblom had a 5-22-2 record, 3.92 GAA and .879 save percentage across 32 games with Chicago in 2023-24. Petr Mrazek will enter the 2024-25 campaign as the Blackhawks' starting goaltender, while Soderblom will be the understudy due to the absence of Laurent Brossoit (knee).

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Takes overtime loss in finale

Soderblom allowed five goals on 35 shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings. The Blackhawks made an improbable third-period rally for a 4-3 lead, but Soderblom couldn't make it stick. He then gave up a goal to Adrian Kempe six seconds into overtime. Soderblom ends 2023-24 with a 5-22-2 record, a 3.92 GAA and an .880 save percentage through 32 outings. The Blackhawks will need to make significant improvements to the roster for Soderblom to be viable in most fantasy formats in 2024-25.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Starting Friday

Soderblom will face the Predators at home Friday, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports. Soderblom looked solid in relief of Petr Mrazek on Wednesday, stopping 21 of 23 shots in nearly a full night of work. Soderblom has just one win in his last five outings, posting an unsightly .885 save percentage during that span. On the year, he owns a brutal 5-21-1 record with a 3.84 GAA.
