  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Sent to AHL

Greaves was loaned to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday. Greaves spent the past week with the Blue Jackets. He was effective during his first start Thursday against the Capitals, turning aside 35 of 37 shots (.946 save percentage) in an overtime loss. However, he was less reliable during his subsequent two starts, posting a 0-1-1 record, 4.02 GAA and .862 save percentage against the Ducks and Lightning. The 25-year-old could rejoin the NHL club at some point since the Blue Jackets' other netminders haven't been particularly strong recently, but Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov should see most of the playing time between the pipes for now.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Getting lots of reps

Greaves made 27 saves in a 5-3 loss to the Lightning on Tuesday. The game was closer than the score -- the Jackets staged a third-period comeback before the Bolts put in an empty-net goal. Greaves has started three of the team's last four games, and he hasn't recorded a win. But he has made some key saves and impressed his coach. No goalie on the Jackets is a safe play. But at some point, they will need to look at handing the reins to Greaves or Daniil Tarasov to see who emerges from their system.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Drawing start Tuesday

Greaves will patrol the road crease Tuesday against Tampa Bay, according to Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site. Greaves has lost both of his appearances in overtime this season, allowing six goals on 64 shots. The Ontario native is getting a shot at the No. 2 netminding gig due to Daniil Tarasov's struggles between the pipes. The 23-year-old Greaves will have a tough assignment Tuesday against a Lightning team that ranks first in the NHL with 4.00 goals per game.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Falls to Anaheim in OT

Greaves stopped 23 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Ducks. Making his second straight start since being recalled from AHL Cleveland, Greaves didn't get a lot of help from his defense, and Anaheim's OT winner came on an Alex Killorn breakaway. Elvis Merzlikins (3.06 GAA and .888 save percentage) and Daniil Tarasov (4.25 GAA and .857 save percentage) have had shaky starts to the season, so the door could be open for Greaves to work his way to the top of the Columbus depth chart if he can string together some good outings. So far so good for the 23-year-old netminder, who has allowed six goals on 64 shots since his promotion.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Big-game performance Thursday

Greaves made 35 saves in a 2-1 loss to Washington on Thursday. It was a sharp performance from Greaves after he was called up earlier this week. There has been speculation that Greaves was auditioning for more playing time given the team's souring on Daniil Tarasov. If that's the case, Greaves made an impression against a strong opponent and could earn some more looks in the net.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Set to face Washington

Greaves is expected to start in Thursday's home tilt against the Capitals, per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic on Wednesday. It will be Greaves' first NHL appearance of the 2024-25 campaign. He's up with the Blue Jackets despite Elvis Merzlikins or Daniil Tarasov both seemingly being healthy, per Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers. However, Tarasov is having an extremely rough campaign with a 4.25 GAA and an .857 save percentage through nine outings, which has led to Merzlikins starting in 10 of Columbus' last 11 games. Perhaps Greaves is simply up because the Blue Jackets have soured on Tarasov, and if that's the case, then the game against Washington is an opportunity for the 23-year-old Greaves to make his pitch to remain with the team. The Capitals are a difficult assignment, though -- Washington is 19-6-2 and ranks first in goals per game with 4.04.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Called up from minors

Greaves was elevated from AHL Cleveland on Wednesday. Greaves' promotion could be an indication that Elvis Merzlikins or Daniil Tarasov is dealing with an injury or illness ahead of Thursday's clash with the Capitals. In his nine appearances last year, the 23-year-old Greaves went 3-6-0 with a 3.49 GAA. He's been significantly better in the minors this year, going 8-4-2 with a 3.21 GAA and .902 save percentage. If there is an injury in the goalie tandem, Greaves could be pressed into service against Anaheim or Carolina on Saturday or Sunday, respectively.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Emergency recall Friday

Greaves was recalled by the Blue Jackets under emergency conditions Friday. The fact that it's an emergency recall implies either Elvis Merzlikins or Daniil Tarasov is in danger of missing Friday's home game against Calgary. Greaves has a 3.23 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 11 appearances with AHL Cleveland in 2024-25.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Called up Wednesday

Greaves was called up by Columbus on Wednesday. Greaves has made one appearances with AHL Cleveland this year and had a difficult time, posting a 7.01 GAA and an .800 save percentage. He has a 3.44 GAA and a .912 save percentage across 10 career NHL regular-season games. His promotion to Columbus might indicate that the availability of Elvis Merzlikins or Daniil Tarasov is in question for Thursday's home contest against Buffalo, but at the moment, neither of the Blue Jackets' regular two goaltenders have a reported injury or illness. If either Merzlikins or Tarasov can't play Thursday, then Greaves will probably dress as the backup netminder.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Impresses in preseason road win

Greaves stopped 22 of 23 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 preseason win over the Blues. Greaves improved from his previous outing, doing his part to shut down a fairly veteran Blues roster in this contest. While it was a strong performance, there is little chance he makes the Opening Night roster for the Blue Jackets. Greaves could be an option if Columbus carries three goalies, but he remains behind Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov on the depth chart.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Protecting road net

Greaves will start on the road versus the Blues in Tuesday's preseason game, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Greaves allowed three goals on 15 shots in his previous start against the Sabres. The 23-year-old netminder is unlikely to make the Opening Night roster, and a poor performance Tuesday could lead to him being sent to AHL Cleveland.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting in Buffalo

Greaves will defend the road net in Monday's preseason matchup against the Sabres, according to Joe Yerdon of Bleacher Report. Greaves earned a 3-6-0 record with a 3.49 GAA and a .908 save percentage over nine regular-season contests with Columbus in 2023-24. He will probably begin the upcoming campaign in the minors because Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov are expected to occupy the top two spots for the Blue Jackets on Opening Night.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Sent down after finale

Greaves was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Tuesday. Greaves stopped 38 of 41 shots in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Hurricanes. He'll now head back to the Monsters with the Blue Jackets' season over, giving the AHL team reinforcements for the Calder Cup playoffs. Greaves went 3-6-0 with a 3.49 GAA and a .908 save percentage over nine NHL outings.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Facing Hurricanes

Greaves will patrol the home crease versus Carolina in Tuesday's season finale, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports. Greaves has gone 2-6-0 in limited NHL action this season, but he's posted a decent .906 save percentage behind a poor Blue Jackets team over that stretch. He'll try to secure his third career NHL victory in a rough home matchup with a red-hot Hurricanes squad that's won five straight games.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tending twine Tuesday

Greaves will guard the road goal Tuesday against Tampa Bay, per Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site. Greaves is coming off a 37-save performance in Saturday's 6-2 win over Philadelphia. He has a 2-3-0 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .924 save percentage in five NHL appearances this season. The Lightning sit fifth in the league with 3.52 goals per contest this campaign.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting vs. Philly

Greaves will draw the home start Saturday against the Flyers, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports. Greaves stopped 24 of 25 shots in a loss Thursday against the Islanders after Daniil Tarasov (upper body) left with an injury. With both Tarasov and Elvis Merzlikins (lower body) sidelined, Greaves could be in for a significant workload down the stretch. Overall, he's 1-3-0 with a .917 save percentage and 3.04 GAA this season.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Heads to AHL

He has a 2.88 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 37 outings with Cleveland this season. This move might mean Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) will be available Thursday versus Edmonton.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Assigned to AHL

Greaves was assigned to AHL Cleveland on Monday. In a corresponding move, Daniil Tarasov (knee) was recalled from his conditioning stint in the minors. Greaves stopped 72 of 77 shots en route to a 1-1-0 record in two starts for Columbus during his recent call-up.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Falls to Florida

Greaves stopped 31 of 34 shots in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers. Florida's final two goals were scored into an empty net. Greaves played well and made some big saves to keep Columbus in the game on an afternoon in which the team was out-shot 36-19. The 22-year-old has started two straight games with Elvis Merzlikins (illness) on injured reserve, turning aside 72 of 77 shots for a .935 save percentage, and those performances could earn Greaves another turn between the pipes when the Jackets return to the ice Thursday in Toronto.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting Sunday

Greaves will patrol the home crease Sunday against Florida, according to Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.
