    Engstrom was reassigned to AHL Laval on Thursday. Engstrom has played 11 games with Montreal, failing to pick up a point in any contest. The defenseman was a healthy scratch the last three games, and the Canadiens decided to give the 22-year-old playing time in the AHL. Engstrom was an offensive defenseman in the AHL, tallying five goals and 16 points in 20 games before being recalled.

    Engstrom has been recalled by the Canadiens from AHL Laval, the team announced Sunday One day after recording five points for AHL Laval, Engstrom has been brought up to join the NHL club. The 22-year-old has 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 18 games at the AHL level. Should he appear in a game with the Canadiens, it would be the first NHL appearance of his career. Whether that will happen remains to be seen considering Montreal's six defensemen are pretty set at the moment.
