Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Returns to minors
Bonk was reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
Bonk made his NHL debut Tuesday, providing a goal and an assist to lead the Flyers to a 4-2 victory over Montreal. That fantastic performance will help make his case when he's competing for an NHL roster spot during training camp, but for now, he'll focus on closing out the campaign for Lehigh Valley, which will not make the Calder Cup Playoffs. The 21-year-old defenseman has six goals, 19 points and 22 PIM in 44 outings with the AHL squad in 2025-26. Bonk is unlikely to play for Philadelphia during its playoff run, but he might eventually join the club as a Black Ace to get a taste of the postseason atmosphere.

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Called up Tuesday
Bonk was promoted from AHL Lehigh Valley on Tuesday and will make his NHL debut against the Canadiens.
The 21-year-old blueliner has six goals and 19 points in 44 AHL appearances in his rookie pro season, after missing the early part of the campaign due to an upper-body injury sustained during training camp. Bonk won back-to-back OHL titles with the London Knights and helped them claim the 2025 Memorial Cup, logging 11 goals and 40 points in 52 regular-season games last year before adding 14 points in 17 playoff contests. The 22nd-overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft is considered a top defensive prospect in the Flyers' system and projects as a future second-pairing blueliner. His NHL debut is worth monitoring in dynasty formats, though he carries no redraft value yet.

Bonk has two goals and six points in 22 outings with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2025-26. The 21-year-old might make his NHL debut when the Flyers' schedule resumes next Wednesday in Washington. However, it's also possible that he's simply up to get into some practices with the NHL squad during the Olympic break and will be returned to the minors without getting into a game.

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Activated, assigned Tuesday
Bonk (upper body) was activated off non-roster injured reserve and reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
Bonk was injured during the preseason but was unlikely to make the Opening Night roster for the Flyers regardless. Look for the blueliner to spend the bulk of the year in the minors with AHL Lehigh Valley, though he could be called up later in the season if the need arises.

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Progressing in recovery
General manager Daniel Briere said Monday that Bonk (upper body) is progressing in his recovery, Charlie O'Connor of PHLY Sports reports.
Bonk was held out of training camp due to his upper-body injury, but his recovery process has been fairly slow. However, Briere said that Bonk is now progressing well, and the team is approaching the process cautiously in an attempt to avoid a setback. Briere declined to provide a timetable for Bonk's return Monday, so it doesn't seem as though the 20-year-old is particularly close to making his season debut.

Bonk has been dealing with an upper-body injury since the start of training camp, and he'll be forced to miss yet another preseason game Monday. While he's still considered day-to-day, it's not yet clear whether he'll be deemed healthy in time for the start of the regular season. Once he's cleared to play, he'll presumably head to AHL Lehigh Valley or OHL London.

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Unavailable Thursday
Bonk (upper body) will not be in the lineup in Thursday's preseason contest versus Washington.
The 20-year-old was selected 22nd overall in the 2023 Draft. He was expected to challenge for a spot on the Philadelphia blue line this season, but the lack of playing time during training camp will likely find him starting the season in the minors.

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Not in lineup Tuesday
Bonk (upper body) will not face the Canadiens in Tuesday's preseason game, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
While Bonk's upper-body issue has been deemed day-to-day, his continued absence makes it less and less likely that he will earn a spot on the Opening Night roster. The 20-year-old blueliner could still make the jump to the professional ranks and join AHL Lehigh Valley this year, rather than returning for one more season with OHL London.

Flyers' Oliver Bonk: Deemed day-to-day
The Flyers announced Thursday that Bonk (upper body) is considered day-to-day.
The Flyers indicated earlier this week that Bonk is dealing with an upper-body injury, and it wasn't clear whether he'd be cleared for contact by the start of training camp. It appears as though he'll have some limitations to begin camp, but his day-to-day designation suggests that his injury is considered relatively minor. If he can return to full health early in training camp, the 20-year-old could have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Opening Night roster.
