His effort Tuesday was a big one, giving the Marlies a 3-0 lead in the championship series. Akhtyamov will likely get the chance to close out the sweep in Game 4 on Thursday.

The guy was a sitting duck behind the Eastern Conference's worst and NHL's fourth-worst goal differentials (minus-44). Vancouver (minus-96), Chicago (minus-65) and Calgary (minus-47) are worse. Akhtyamov needs to be avoided.

Akhtyamov will make his second NHL start, having given up five goals on 44 shots in his debut versus the Islanders on Thursday.
