Canadiens' David Savard: Nabs assist in win
Savard recorded an assist and three blocked shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Savard has two helpers over his last three games. The defenseman is up to seven assists, 18 shots on net, 22 PIM, 30 hits, 80 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating across 31 appearances this season. Savard plays a heavily defensive role and often in a bottom-four position, so he's unlikely to generate much offense. He has a little fantasy value in deeper formats that reward blocks.

Canadiens' Christian Dvorak: Generates helper in win
Dvorak recorded an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Dvorak has picked up three helpers over his last four games. That's a strong run of offense for a third-liner who typically takes more of a defensive approach. He's at 11 points, 43 shots on net, 37 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 33 outings this season.

Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Snaps drought
Gallagher had a goal on two shots, one block and one hit in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Gallagher finished the scoring with a bullet off a drop pass from Josh Anderson. Gallagher, who made some waves earlier this season when he scored goals in five of seven games, has gone cold since mid-November. Saturday's strike snapped a 13-game stretch without a goal.

Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Strikes in win
Heineman had a goal, one shot on net, three hits and two PIM in Saturday's 5-1 win over Detroit.
Heineman potted his eighth goal of the season early in the second period. It was the second straight game with a goal and third consecutive with at least a point for Heineman, who has five points over his last five outings.

Canadiens' Jake Evans: Points in three consecutive
Evans had a goal, two shots on net and one block in Saturday's 5-1 win over Detroit.
Montreal's fourth line has been productive in three consecutive wins, and Evans has been a big part of it. Both he and Emil Heineman tallied Saturday, and Evans has points (two goals, two assists) in three consecutive outings.

Canadiens' Alexandre Carrier: Logs first point with Habs
Carrier had an assist, one shot on net, one block and one hit in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Carrier picked up the secondary assist on Jake Evans' game-winning goal in the first period. It was Carrier's first point since Montreal acquired him from the Predators on Wednesday. He's lined up on the second pair with Kaiden Guhle in his two outings with the Canadiens.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Another power-play tally
Laine had a power-play goal, six shots on net and one blocked shot in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Laine pocketed his eighth goal, all on the power play, during the Canadiens' three-goal first period. He's been hot since Montreal activated him from the injured list nine games ago; however, the winger's unsustainable 27.2 shooting percentage suggests a correction is coming.

Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Stays hot in win
Hutson recorded a power-play assist and at even-strength helper in Saturday's 5-1 win Detroit.
Hutson's pair of assists were recorded in the first period. He's on a four-game point streak in which he's recorded a goal and six points. Going back a bit further, Hutson has 14 points over his last 12 outings. He leads Montreal in assists (24) and power-play helpers (12).

Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Two helpers in win
Suzuki had one assist on the power play and a second at even strength in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Suzuki was involved in two of Montreal's three first-period goals. The two helpers gave him 201 career assists. This was the second two-assist effort in his last three outings for Suzuki, who is up to 23 assists (10 on the power play) over 33 appearances.

Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Scores in win
Slafkovsky had a goal on four shots and three hits in Saturday's 5-1 win over Detroit.
Slafkovsky redirected a Nick Suzuki shot for Montreal's first goal. It's been rough sledding early on for Slafkovsky, who entered the game with just three goals and an 8.1 shooting percentage over 29 outings. However, A recent shift to the top line has triggered his scoring touch. Slafkovsky has goals in two of the last three contests.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Wins three straight
Montembeault stopped 20 of 21 shots in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Chalk up three consecutive wins for Montembeault, who dispatched the two teams beneath Montreal in the Atlantic Division during the streak. On Tuesday, he shut down Buffalo and then won a back-to-back set over Detroit this weekend, while posting a 1.67 goals-against average and .928 save percentage. It was the ninth consecutive start for Montembeault. He's struggled against the better teams in the league, but the 28-year-old netminder has generally bested squads in the lower half of the standings. He will likely get a chance to extend the win streak in Monday's road tilt against Columbus.

Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Starting again Saturday
Montembeault will patrol the home crease against Detroit on Saturday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Montembeault is coming off a 25-save performance in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings. He has posted a record of 11-13-2 with three shutouts, a 2.93 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 26 appearances this season. Detroit sits 25th in the league with 2.69 goals per game in 2024-25.

Canadiens' Joel Armia: Contributes helper
Armia notched an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
Armia has three goals and an assist over his last seven outings. The helper was his first since Nov. 27, but he's emerged as a key depth scorer for the Canadiens while often filling a fourth-line role. For the season, Armia has 14 points, 43 shots on net, 44 hits and a minus-5 rating through 32 appearances, putting him on pace for his most productive campaign in five years.

Canadiens' Mike Matheson: Supplies assist Friday
Matheson managed an assist and went minus-2 in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
Matheson helped out on Emil Heineman's opening goal in the first period. This was Matheson's second assist over the last three games, but he's been limited to just three helpers through nine outings in December. The 30-year-old defenseman has 17 points, 66 blocked shots, 56 shots on net, 29 PIM and a minus-12 rating through 30 contests this season. His defensive numbers will struggle since he plays big minutes on a team that often is outmatched, but Matheson adds enough offense to be a factor in fantasy anyway.

Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Provides power-play assist
Hutson notched a power-play assist and went minus-2 in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
Hutson continued a strong run of offense -- he's gotten on the scoresheet in 10 of the last 11 games, racking up a goal and 11 assists in that span. He set up Patrik Laine for the game-winning goal in Friday's contests. Hutson is up to 23 points (10 on the power play), 36 shots on net, 43 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a minus-16 rating through 32 appearances. There's still work for him to do defensively, but he's already got plenty of offense, so fantasy managers who can weather his poor plus-minus rating shouldn't hesitate to have him active.

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Draws power-play assist
Caufield logged a power-play assist, three shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
Caufield's numbers are evening out a bit -- after being almost nothing but goals early on, he's now racked up five helpers over the last five games without scoring in that span. His latest assist was on a Patrik Laine tally in the third period Friday. Caufield has been excellent overall with 17 goals, 13 assists, 87 shots on net, 28 hits and a minus-4 rating through 32 appearances, and 10 of his 30 points have come on the power play. He should have no trouble staying in a top-line role.

Canadiens' Arber Xhekaj: Pots goal Friday
Xhekaj scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
Xhekaj ended a five-game point drought with his game-tying goal in the third period, which was his first tally of the season. The 23-year-old defenseman didn't do much on offense early on -- all five of his points have come over the last 15 games. He's added 33 shots on net, 43 PIM, 31 blocked shots, 76 hits and a minus-5 rating through 29 outings overall. Xhekaj looks set to continue playing a physical role in the Canadiens' bottom four, though he may have to compete with Jayden Struble for the last spot in the lineup since Alexandre Carrier was brought in a swap that sent frequent scratch Justin Barron to Nashville.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Nets game-winner on power play
Laine scored a power-play goal on three shots, added two PIM and logged two hits in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
Laine has scored all seven of his goals this season on the power play. His tally Friday was clutch, giving the Canadiens the lead for good at 12:02 of the third period. Laine is at eight points, 27 shots on net, six hits, eight blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over eight appearances. A little more even-strength production would help from a sustainability standpoint, but fantasy managers who waited for Laine to recover from a knee injury have been reaping the rewards early and often since his return.
