  • Devils' Dougie Hamilton: Snags helper in win

Hamilton registered an assist, four shots on goal and two PIM in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Penguins.

Hamilton set up a Nico Hischier tally in the third period. The 31-year-old Hamilton ended a seven-game point drought with that helper, though his slump on offense hasn't cost him much playing time. He remains in a top-four role with power-play time. He's at 22 points, 108 shots on net, 50 blocked shots, 36 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 36 contests. Hamilton is unlikely to repeat his 74-point season from 2022-23, but he's back to being a strong scorer from the blue line after missing most of 2023-24.

  • Devils' Stefan Noesen: Buries goal Saturday

Noesen scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Penguins.

Noesen has scored twice over the last three games. His tally Saturday opened the scoring at 17:32 of the second period and stood as the game-winner in the shutout victory. The 31-year-old forward is on the second line and providing decent secondary scoring for the Devils this year. He's up to a career-high 15 goals while adding nine assists, 80 shots on net, 84 hits, 19 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 36 appearances. His high-water mark in points is 37 from last year with the Hurricanes, and he's in position to top that number as well.

  • Devils' Timo Meier: Two points in Saturday's win

Meier delivered a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Penguins.

After helping to set up up Stefan Noesen for what would prove to be the game-winner late in the second period, Meier added an empty-netter late in the third. The 28-year-old winger has been productive since getting suspended for one game in late November, and over his last 11 appearances he's racked up five goals and 10 points.

  • Devils' Nico Hischier: Carries offense against Pens

Hischier scored a goal on three shots on net and added two assists, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Saturday's 3-0 win over Pittsburgh.

It was Hischier's first multi-point performance since Nov. 29. The 25-year-old didn't get on the scoresheet at all through the first five games in December, but since then he's collected two goals and five points in the last four contests. On the season, Hischier has 17 goals in 36 appearances, putting him on pace to top the career-high 31 tallies he notched in 2022-23.

  • Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Blanks Pens on Saturday

Markstrom made 12 saves in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Penguins.

The 34-year-old netminder was rarely tested and didn't face more than five shots in any period, while New Jersey peppered Tristan Jarry with 14 in the third period alone. The shutout was Markstrom's second of the season, and he hasn't taken a regulation loss since Nov. 27, going 7-0-1 over his last eight starts with a dazzling 1.49 GAA and .928 save percentage.

  • Devils' Colton White: Back to AHL

White was reassigned to AHL Utica on Sunday.

White, who's yet to suit up with the Devils this year, will report to the AHL before joining Team Canada for the upcoming Spengler Cup. White's last NHL experience came in 2022 when he had six assists and a minus-17 rating in 46 games with Anaheim.

  • Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Expected to start Saturday

Markstrom is slated to defend the home crease versus Pittsburgh on Saturday, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.

Markstrom has been outstanding of late, going 6-0-1 with a 1.70 GAA and a .922 save percentage in his last seven starts. The 34-year-old has turned it around in New Jersey after two mediocre seasons with the Flames, as he is 16-6-2 with a 2.29 GAA and a .909 save percentage through 24 appearances this campaign. Pittsburgh has posted 3.06 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Devils' Paul Cotter: Ends drought with helper

Cotter picked up an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Cotter ended a 15-game point drought when he set up a Luke Hughes tally in the third period. The slump took the shine off of a strong start to the season for Cotter, who has been a regular on the Devils' third line throughout 2024-25. He's still on pace for a career year with 13 points, 45 shots on net, 113 hits, 26 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 35 appearances, but it's unlikely he'll get much power-play time to raise his floor on offense.

  • Devils' Timo Meier: Scores in Thursday's loss

Meier scored a goal on four shots and added two PIM in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Meier has three goals and one assist over eight outings in December. He's not stringing together offense well -- his last time getting on the scoresheet in consecutive games was at the end of November. The winger is up to 11 goals, 23 points, 109 shots on net, 60 hits, 31 PIM and a plus-7 rating over 34 contests. Meier's role in the Devils' top six will maintain his status as a strong fantasy winger, especially since he often contributes in non-scoring areas.

  • Devils' Luke Hughes: Two points Thursday

Hughes produced a goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.

The 21-year-old defender spoiled Elvis Merzlikins' shutout bid with just under three minutes left in the third period, then helped set up Timo Meier for the Devils' final tally 85 seconds later. Hughes has gotten onto the scoresheet in three straight games, and over the last 16 contests he's racked up two goals and 12 points with 31 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating. After missing the beginning of the season while completing his recovery from shoulder surgery and then managing just one assist over his first 10 appearances of 2024-25, Hughes has quickly made up for lost time and is emerging as a force on the New Jersey blue line.

  • Devils' Jake Allen: Tough night in Columbus

Allen stopped 16 of 19 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets, with Columbus' last goal coming into an empty net.

New Jersey outshot the home squad 42-20 on the night, but the Devils' offense couldn't solve Elvis Merzlikins until late in the third period, at which point they were already down 3-0. Allen has lost three straight starts, giving up 12 goals on only 74 shots (.838 save percentage) during that span, and his last win came back on Nov. 23. The 34-year-old is on the last year of his current contract, and if he continues to struggle the Devils may look to the trade market for a new backup to Jacob Markstrom.

  • Devils' Justin Dowling: Recalled Thursday

Dowling was called up by the Devils on Thursday.

Dowling has two goals and three points over 21 appearances with New Jersey in 2024-25. He also has two goals and four points across seven outings with AHL Utica. Dowling cleared waivers Tuesday and was briefly sent to the minors before being recalled.

  • Devils' Jake Allen: Gets starting nod Thursday

Allen will be between the pipes on the road versus Columbus on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Allen will be in the crease for the first time since Dec. 8 against Colorado, in part due to an upper-body injury. Over his last five appearances, the 34-year-old backstop has recorded a 2-3-0 record, 2.89 GAA and .896 save percentage. Even with Allen healthy again, he figures to remain the No. 2 option behind Jacob Markstrom this year, which will limit his viability in fantasy contests.

  • Devils' Curtis Lazar: Not playing Thursday

Per Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers, Lazar (knee) will not play in Columbus on Thursday, according to coach Sheldon Keefe.

Lazar missed 21 games with a knee injury suffered Oct. 27 versus Anaheim, and returned to action Tuesday for the first time in 22 games. He did not come out of the game healthy as the Devils will likely shut him down until after the Christmas break. Lazar has a goal and an assist in 13 games with the Devils this season.

  • Devils' Luke Hughes: Reaches 10-assist mark

Hughes notched an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blues.

Hughes has a helper in each of the last two contests, and nine of his 11 points this year have come over the last 12 games. The 21-year-old led the Devils with 21:01 of ice time Tuesday, though it was a game where they were never in danger of losing the lead. Hughes has added 36 shots on net, 17 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating through 25 appearances, and he remains a decent option in fantasy thanks to his power-play role.

  • Devils' Brenden Dillon: Adds insurance tally

Dillon scored a goal and levied seven hits in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blues.

Dillon has three points, 15 hits and seven blocked shots over his last six games. The 34-year-old blueliner continues to play on the top pairing at even strength, providing physicality and a shutdown mentality alongside Dougie Hamilton. Dillon is up to two goals, nine points, 21 shots on net, 87 hits, 57 blocked shots, 39 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 34 appearances. His lack of offense limits his fantasy appeal, but he's on pace to reach the 20-point mark for the fourth year in a row.
