Draft Scouting Report
Pro Comparison: Tyler Conklin
Summary
Lance Mason hauled in 34 passes for 590 yards and six scores at Missouri State in 2024 before transferring to Wisconsin. While he didn’t match those numbers in Madison, Mason still led an anemic Badgers passing offense in receiving. He lacks the athleticism to project as a starter, but he’s a willing blocker and natural receiver who could serve as a complementary No. 2 in the NFL.
About
- 2025: Led Wisconsin in receiving yards (398) and receiving TD (4)
- 2025: First Wisconsin TE to lead team in receiving yards since Jake Ferguson (2020)
Strengths
- Thickly built, rugged tight end; can take and deliver a pummeling.
- Sneaky straight-line speed; can outrun linebackers.
- Physical in-line blocker; a true “Y” tight end.
Weaknesses
- Clunky in tight spaces; has to use size to win.
- Short arms and small wingspan, which will limit him as a blocker.
- Doesn’t have the feet to avoid contact at the linebacker level.
