  Taillon took a no-decision against the Brewers in Game 3 of the NLDS on Wednesday after giving up two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three batters over four innings. The Brewers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly courtesy of Sal Frelick, but a four-run outburst from the Chicago's offense in the first inning gave Taillon and the Cubs all the runs they would need to prevail in Wednesday's contest. The right-hander's pitch count had climbed to 75 by the end of the fourth, so manager Craig Counsell pulled the plug early on his start, preventing him from leaving the ballpark with a win. If the Cubs are able to complete the series comeback, Taillon would likely be granted another start during the NLCS.

Taillon put together a strong outing against the Padres during the wild-card round, hurling four scoreless frames while surrendering two hits and striking out four. He'll be tasked with shutting down an offense that has racked up 24 hits in the first two games of the series in a must-win game for the Cubs at Wrigley Field.   Taillon threw four shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out four in Thursday's wild-card game against the Padres. He did not issue a walk. Taillon pitched well and needed only 60 pitches to complete his four innings of work. However, manager Craig Counsell still opted to turn to his bullpen early in the decisive Game 3 win to advance to the NLDS. Taillon will likely be a part of Chicago's rotation in the team's upcoming series against Milwaukee, and he's now allowed one earned run or zero in four consecutive starts.

  Taillon will start Game 3 of the NL Wild Card series against the Padres on Thursday, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports. After turning in a 3.68 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 129.2 frames in the regular season, Taillon will take the mound in Thursday's win-or-go-home contest. The 33-year-old has already faced the Padres once this year, allowing two earned runs over 5.1 innings during a 10-4 loss on April 14.

  Taillon (11-7) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over six innings in Saturday's 7-3 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out eight. The veteran righty continues his hot streak to close out the regular season. Taillon has given up two runs or fewer in seven straight starts since returning from a calf strain in late July despite a groin injury in late August that sidelined him for another couple weeks, going 4-2 with a 1.84 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB in 33 innings during that stretch. With Cade Horton (ribs) landing on the IL on Saturday, Taillon's importance to the Cubs' postseason rotation only grows.
