The Phillies re-signed Dahl to a minor-league contract Monday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Dahl elected for free agency earlier this month after the Phillies removed him from their 40-man roster, but he's returned to the organization on a new deal. The 30-year-old outfielder will report this week to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he's posted a 1.076 OPS this season.

Dahl elected free agency Wednesday after clearing waivers. Rather than heading back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after the Phillies designated him for assignment Tuesday, Dahl will look for an opportunity in another organization. The 30-year-old outfielder posted a 1.076 OPS over 43 games for Lehigh Valley earlier this season but struggled during his time in the big leagues with Philadelphia, slashing .207/.242/.397 with a 33.9 percent strikeout rate over 62 plate appearances.

The Phillies designated Dahl for assignment Tuesday. After getting called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on June 3, Dahl appeared in 19 games and produced a .639 OPS with a 33.9 percent strikeout rate over 62 plate appearances during his time on the big-league roster. With all of Brandon Marsh, Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin) having since moved past their respective injuries, the Phillies no longer had room on the roster for Dahl.

Dahl is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta. Dahl had started in the Phillies' last four matchups with right-handed pitchers, but he'll hit the bench Sunday against Atlanta righty Reynaldo Lopez. With Dahl taking a seat, Nick Castellanos will serve as the Phillies' designated hitter while Whit Merrifield picks up a start in the corner outfield.

Dahl isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins. Dahl will be on the bench for the fourth time in five games Saturday, even though the Phillies are set to match up against right-handed starter Roddery Munoz. Brandon Marsh, Johan Rojas and Nick Castellanos will start across the outfield while Dahl sits.
