Atlanta released Nola on Tuesday so that he can become the Mariners' bullpen coach, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Nola appeared in 15 MLB games for the Rockies in 2025, going just 7-for-38 (.184) at the plate while driving in one run and scoring two runs. He signed a minor-league deal with Atlanta in October but will now trade in his catcher's gear for a place on Seattle's coaching staff. Assuming his playing days are now over, the 35-year-old will finish his MLB career with a .247/.323/.364 slash line along with 24 homers, 137 RBI and 127 runs scored over six years in the big leagues.

Atlanta signed Nola to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Nola got into 14 games with the Rockies in 2025, going just 7-for-38 at the plate. The 35-year-old could get a chance to compete for the backup catcher job if Atlanta winds up trading Sean Murphy, but Nola will most likely offer experienced organizational depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Rockies outrighted Nola to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday. Nola passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the 40-man roster and will remain in the organization as veteran catching depth. The 35-year-old has put up a .436 OPS over 14 games at the big-league level in 2025.

The Rockies designated Nola for assignment Monday. The Rockies have been carrying three catchers for most of this month, but they will now go back to two backstops as Nola gets booted off the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster. Nola had played sparingly lately and will have the ability to elect free agency if he passes through waivers.

The Rockies selected Nola's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. The Rockies are swapping out backup catchers, with Nola taking Braxton Fulford's spot on the roster. Nola was hitting .347/.411/.474 with one home run in 26 contests with Albuquerque and will see the occasional start at catcher on days when Hunter Goodman is resting or serving as the designated hitter.
