The Phillies recalled Allard from Triple-A Lehigh Valley ahead of his start Saturday against the Mets. The Phillies optioned Allard to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday. Infielder Buddy Kennedy will join the Phillies' active roster as a replacement for Allard, who was summoned from Lehigh Valley to make a spot start Sunday. Allard scooped up a win while limiting the Royals to two runs over five innings, and he now owns a 3.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 18 innings. Though he'll head back to the minors, Allard's solid performance at the big-league level this season likely puts him ahead of Tyler Phillips and Kyle Tyler for a promotion if a rotation spot with the Phillies opens up again at some point.

Allard (2-0) yielded two runs on eight hits over five innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over the Royals. Allard made his first MLB appearance since Aug. 8 and delivered his second straight win. He coughed up a pair of solo homers to Bobby Witt and Maikel Garcia but was able to maneuver around the rest of the Royals lineup. Allard has looked solid in his minimal MLB usage this season, posting a 3.50 ERA with a 13:2 K:BB through 18 innings. The Phillies don't have a day off until Sep. 2 so Allard could stick around for another appearance before heading back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
