The Mets DFA'd Reyes on Monday, and the shortstop has elected to remain in the Mets organization after clearing waivers. • The Mets designated Reyes for assignment Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Reyes was with the Mets for one week and appeared in just one game as a pinch runner. He was replaced on the 40-man roster and 28-man active roster by fellow utility player Eddy Alvarez, whom the Mets acquired from the Red Sox on Sunday.

  • Mets' Pablo Reyes: Called up Sunday
    By RotoWire

The Mets recalled Reyes from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of Sunday's 2-0 win over the White Sox. He appeared off the bench as a pinch runner and came around to score a run. Reyes has seen action at all four infield spots as well as in right field between his time in the minors and his brief run in the big leagues with the Red Sox this season, so he'll provide the Mets with some versatility off the bench down the stretch. The 30-year-old utility man is unlikely to receive regular at-bats, however.

  • The Red Sox outrighted Reyes to Triple-A Worcester on Monday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports. Reyes no longer has a spot on the 40-man roster, but he'll remain in the organization as utility depth. He's put up a .183/.234/.217 batting line over 61 plate appearances with the big club in 2024.

  • Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Starts at third base
    By RotoWire

Reyes started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Cleveland. Reyes filled in for the injured Rafael Devers (knee) and committed a costly error that allowed one of three unearned runs to score. Reyes also couldn't get a ball out of his glove quick enough to start a 5-4-3 double, which allowed another run to score. Per Ian Browne of MLB.com, the Red Sox are hoping to avoid having to put Devers on the injured list, which suggests a fill-in will be needed for more than just Thursday's contest. Reyes and Bobby Dalbec are the primary candidates to play third base should Devers need an stint on the IL.
