The Rockies non-tendered Quantrill on Friday. The Rockies will pass on a second year with Quantrill after the 29-year-old turned in a 4.98 ERA and 1.52 WHIP last season. He'll now attempt to latch on with another organization in free agency, though many teams may be turned away by his 5.04 ERA when pitching away from Coors Field.

Quantrill (8-11) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on seven hits and two walks over 3.1 innings as the Rockies were routed 11-4 by the Dodgers. He failed to strike out a batter. A two-run homer by Teoscar Hernandez in the first inning and a solo shot by Andy Pages in the fourth were the big blows off Quantrill, as the right-hander saw his season end with his worst outing since July 30. His first campaign with the Rockies was predictably turbulent, but Quantrill gave the team 29 starts and 148.1 innings while posting a 4.98 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 110:69 K:BB. He's headed for a raise this offseason in his final year of arbitration eligibility, so it's possible Colorado attempts to move him rather than pay him what could be eight figures to fill a rotation spot.

Quantrill did not factor into the decision against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks over 4.2 innings while striking out five. Quantrill retired eight of the first nine batters he faced before allowing a walk to Shohei Ohtani followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Mookie Betts. The right-hander then surrendered a third run in the fourth and did not make it through the fifth after reaching 100 pitches. Quantrill has now issued four or more walks in three consecutive starts and at least two walks in nine straight. He's also winless over his last four starts, surrendering multiple runs in each of those outings, and hasn't gotten through six innings since July 24 against the Red Sox (a span of seven starts).

Quantrill (8-10) allowed two runs on four hits and six walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Cubs. Quantrill had a short stay on the injured list due to a tricep injury, but he didn't look good in his return. He threw 69 pitches, with just 34 of them being strikes, while the six walks were a season high in his shortest appearance of the year. There was no report of another injury after the game, so this appears to just be a poor performance at this time. Quantrill has struggled to a 4.68 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 105:63 K:BB through 140.1 innings over 27 starts this season. His next start is tentatively projected to be a tough one on the road versus the Dodgers.

Quantrill (tricep) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday against the Cubs. The right-hander has been sidelined since late August due to a tricep injury, but he's ready to rejoin Colorado's rotation after a brief stay on the injured list. Quantrill has a 6.06 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 25:18 K:BB in 35.2 innings across seven starts since the All-Star break.
