Manning signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization on Sunday, Yonhap of the Korea Times reports. Manning will head to Korea after posting an inflated 6.04 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 52 strikeouts over 50.2 innings in 31 appearances, including four starts, with Triple-A Toledo in 2025. The right-hander was the Tigers' first-round pick in the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft, and he'll look to recapture some of his luster overseas in 2026.

The Phillies outrighted Manning to Double-A Reading on Monday. He'll remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Manning has spent all of the 2025 season in the minors, holding a 6.47 ERA between the Double- and Triple-A levels.

The Phillies designated Manning for assignment Friday. Manning was removed from the 40-man roster in order to make room for Walker Buehler, who was added to the 40-man and 26-man rosters Friday. Manning was acquired by the Phillies from the Tigers back in July and has been pitching at Double-A Reading, where he has a 10.80 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 8:7 K:BB across five innings of work.

The Phillies acquired Manning from the Tigers on Thursday in exchange for minor league outfielder Josueth Quinonez. Manning was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Thursday, and the Phillies elected to secure him via trade rather than risk a waiver claim. To make room on the 40-man roster for the right-hander, the Phillies designated Devin Sweet for assignment. Philadephia assigned Manning to Single-A Clearwater.

The Tigers designated Manning for assignment Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Once a heralded starting pitching prospect in the organization, Manning struggled to stay healthy over each of the previous three seasons and was unable to establish himself as a permanent part of the big-league rotation. Though Manning had still managed to produce a 3.74 ERA in 168.2 innings in the majors from 2022 through 2024, the Tigers elected to move him to the bullpen earlier this season after he failed to win a spot on Detroit's Opening Day roster. While Manning has been able to stay healthy at Triple-A Toledo in 2025, his stuff hasn't played up in the bullpen as the Tigers had hoped. He had yet to receive a call-up this season while compiling a 6.04 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 52:37 K:BB in 50.2 innings with Toledo, and the Tigers have now elected to move him off the 40-man roster in order to open up a spot for trade-deadline pickup Paul Sewald (shoulder). Given his pedigree, the 27-year-old Manning could attract interest via waivers, but he doesn't look to be especially close to being an impact arm in the majors.
