Kieboom cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Rochester by the Nationals on Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Kieboom is somehow still just 26 but has never come close to cashing in on the hype he had as a prospect. The fact that he passed through waivers unclaimed shows that the Nationals aren't the only organization down on his long-term outlook. Kieboom should play regularly at Rochester in hopes of earning his way back on the 40-man roster.

Kieboom went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Friday's 10-6 win over Atlanta. Kieboom's long ball -- his fourth of the campaign -- was one of five home runs on the night for the Nationals, tying a season high for the club. The 26-year-old has heated up with a .762 OPS over his last 10 games, but he's still been stuck in a timeshare at third base with Ildemaro Vargas as the season winds down.

Kieboom is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Pirates, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. Kieboom was playing regularly for a while at third base after being called up in late August, but he's now started just two of the last six games and both of those came against lefies. Jake Alu is at the hot corner Thursday.

Kieboom is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates. Jake Alu will start at third base and bat eighth as Luis Garcia handles second base and hits sixth. Kieboom has slashed .182/.224/.364 in 58 plate appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Aug. 20.

Kieboom is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Kieboom will take a seat for the second time in three days while the Nationals make room at third base for Ildemaro Vargas. With Kieboom turning in a modest .610 OPS in 15 games since his call-up from Triple-A Rochester in late August and with the switch-hitting Vargas offering a potential strong-side platoon option, Kieboom could see his opportunities against right-handed pitching take a hit as the season winds down.
