Adams (forearm) is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions Tuesday and Friday, MLB.com reports. The right-hander has been on the shelf for just over two weeks, having hit the IL on Aug. 18. The Athletics will wait to see how Adams emerges from the two bullpen sessions before a decision is made on whether to send him on a rehab assignment for the tail end of the minor-league season. Adams has been a valuable sixth- and seventh-inning option for manager Mark Kotsay all season, making 56 appearances and recording a win and 22 holds along the way.

The Athletics placed Adams on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right forearm tendinitis. Per MLB.com, Adams' injury is expected to be a short-term issue, but he'll be unavailable for at least the next couple weeks. Dany Jimenez (oblique) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move and will take Adams' spot in the bullpen.
