  • Thairo Estrada: Elects free agency
    By RotoWire

Estrada (hamstring) cleared waivers Thursday and elected to become a free agent. Estrada was placed on waivers after the Rockies declined to pick up his $7 million mutual option for 2025. Numerous injuries limited the 29-year-old infielder to playing just 39 MLB games in 2025, during which he slashed .253/.285/.370 across 165 plate appearances. He could still receive some interest in the open market, though his injury history and poor offensive performance may limit his options.

  • Colorado declined its $7 million mutual option on Estrada (hamstring) for the 2026 season Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Harding notes that Estrada is eligible for arbitration, so he'll remain under club control for the moment. Estrada appeared in only 39 games in 2025 due to various injuries, including a hamstring issue that forced him to be shut down for nearly the last two months of season. He slashed .253/.285/.370 with three home runs, 21 RBI, one stolen base and 14 runs scored.

  • Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Done for 2025
    By RotoWire

The Rockies transferred Estrada (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list Friday. Estrada strained his right hamstring during Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays. He was placed on the 10-day injured list one day later, and his move to the 60-day IL means Estrada will not play for the rest of the season. He will end the year with a .253/.285/.370 slash line with one steal, nine doubles, three home runs and 21 RBI across 165 plate appearances. Adael Amador and Aaron Schunk figure to see more starts at the keystone with Estrada sidelined.

  • The Rockies placed Estrada on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right hamstring strain. Estrada will head to the IL for the third time this season, after he was previously shut down due to a fractured right wrist and a sprained right thumb. The infielder suffered his latest injury while running out a grounder in Tuesday's 10-4 loss to the Blue Jays and was spotted using crutches to move about the clubhouse after the game, per MLB.com. Colorado recalled Adael Amador from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move, and he'll replace Estrada in the starting nine at second base in Wednesday's series finale with Toronto, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com.

  • Estrada went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored Friday against the Pirates. Estrada has started six of seven games since returning from the injured list. He managed his first multi-hit game in that span Friday, delivering a key knock in the ninth inning that drove in one to keep the Rockies' rally alive. Despite the nice performance, Estrada has gone only 4-for-24 in his last six games.
