Atlanta optioned Biggio to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday. The 29-year-old was added to Atlanta's big-league roster Sept. 11 shortly after being acquired from San Francisco, but he'll now head to Triple-A as Ozzie Albies (wrist) returns from the injured list. Biggio appeared in just four games during his brief time in the majors, and he has a .197/.314/.303 slash line in 78 games between the Dodgers, the Blue Jays and Atlanta this season.

Atlanta selected Biggio's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. Biggo was acquired via trade from the Giants over the weekend and now joins the major-league roster after just one game at Gwinnett. He could get some chances at second base if Whit Merrifield's foot injury continues to linger. Biggio has slashed just .197/.316/.306 at the big-league level in 2024.

Atlanta acquired Biggio in a minor-league trade with the Giants on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The trade sends Biggio to his fourth team this season, as he previously spent time with the Blue Jays, Dodgers and Giants. Biggio signed a minor-league contract with San Francisco on Aug. 23, and he slashed .163/.413/.326 with two home runs and six RBI across 63 plate appearances with Triple-A Sacramento. Biggio could see some playing time at second base if Whit Merrifield goes on the injured list after being diagnosed with a foot fracture, but the former would not be eligible to play in the postseason if Atlanta were to make it there, per Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com.

Biggio signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. After beginning the season with the Blue Jays before spending nearly two months with the Dodgers, Biggio was released by Los Angeles on Aug. 9. He'll now remain in the NL West, although he will report to Triple-A Sacramento. The 29-year-old has slashed .197/.316/.306 with 19 RBI across 217 plate appearances in the majors this season, and he'll likely need to show improvement before earning a promotion to San Francisco.
