  • Rays' Cole Sulser: Sent to Triple-A
    By RotoWire

The Rays optioned Sulser to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Sulser hasn't allowed a run in 11.2 innings with the Rays, but he has minor-league options remaining and that works against him. Colin Poche (shoulder) has returned from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Sulser is listed as the Rays' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Phillies in Philadelphia. Sulser hasn't covered more than 2.2 innings in any of his 39 appearances between the majors and Triple-A this season, so he's unlikely to work more than once through the batting order before exiting the contest. Tyler Alexander will likely be deployed in bulk relief behind Sulser.

  • Rays' Cole Sulser: Up from Durham
    By RotoWire

The Rays recalled Sulser from Triple-A Durham on Saturday. With Colin Poche (shoulder) headed for the IL and Erasmo Ramirez now off the 40-man roster, Sulser and Hunter Bigge will come up to plug the gaps in Tampa Bay's bullpen. Sulser hasn't found much success in the majors this season, giving up five earned runs over 5.2 innings between the Rays and Mets, though he's posted a 2.25 ERA and 0.75 WHIP across 12 frames since reporting to Durham in July.

The transaction clears a spot for Ryan Pepiot (knee), who will return from the 15-day injured list to start Friday against the Diamondbacks.

  • Rays' Cole Sulser: Traded to Tampa Bay
    By RotoWire

The Mets traded Sulser to the Rays on Friday for cash, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Sulser was designated for assignment by the Mets on Monday, and the 34-year-old right-hander will now head to Tampa Bay. Across four major-league outings this season, Sulser has given up five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven in 4.2 innings. He had far more success across his 24 appearances with Triple-A Syracuse this season, posting a 1.48 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 30.1 frames. He'll stay at that level, with the Rays optioning Sulser to Triple-A Durham following the trade.
